| Just curious, is there anyone reading this that lives in SC (specifically Greenville area). It appears most of you are from the Western states or the Atlanta area. |

| It is a great area, isn't it? I do fear though that my wife and I will be moving when I get my first aviation job. We'll see. I may decide to jumpseat, but I heard if you are late more than twice in your first year at the regionals that they will throw you on the road. That may not be a worry that I'll want to deal with.... |

Never thought I'd want to go back, but Greenville has had an incredible recovery since I lived there. Its actuallly very nice to go downtown now. It used to look like Beriut down there with nothing but boarded up storefronts and any growth was out at the malls on the outskirts of town. It is the perfect sized place with nearly all the things you'd want but no so big as to have real traffic headaches. I'd actually like to live a bit closer to the mountains or Lake Hartwell, but there is nothing wrong with Greenville as a place to live. Now Columbia just sux. Too far from hill or beach to be tolerable and hot as hades in the summer. My brother lives there so I have to go every once in a while. | |

| Old Skool | Eh many of the regionals have some sort of clause. I know we have a commuter clause here but I cant go into detail because I dont commute therefore I never have paid attention to it.... The picture on my profile is actually from Georgetown, SC..... Have flown over there a few times in the C-206 and a seminole.... I love the SC area in general! |

| It is truly amazing the way downtown has improved. I am taking lessons at Bob Jones Academy at GMU right now. I have heard of Carloyn's Flight Academy but I never actually went to look at them. Greenville Aviation was flurrishing for a number of years and then went under when a law suit came up. The original owner now has restarted the school and is building it from scratch. There prices were a little higher, and I found a great flight instructor at BJU. I agree about Columbia! Quote:

| Simpsonville's a pretty nice area (the good side of Gville!)...as long as you are willing to battle that 385 traffic. Good luck with the better half! Do you fly freight? |

| Old Skool | I lived in SC for a few years (03-07). Lived in Sumter and then Columbia for the last year 1/2 or so. I enjoyed the state for the most part. But otherwise I can't think of any good reasons to return, except for golf along the coast. ![]() |

| I'm in Simspsonville formerly from Myrtle Beach, Longwood Fla. and Nashville Tn. in the last five years. I've only lived here for a few month's, so far it seems like a nice place. Trying to find a flying job is difficult in this area. SatsAir is the only game in town aside from corporate, FedEx and Air Cargo Carriers. |

| Senior Member | I don't live there, but find myself overnighting in GSP (last week) and CAE (like tonight) quite a few times a month. Surely I'll have to get beers with some of you soon.

| Junior Member | Where do you guys stay on your GSP overnights? The airport is kind of in the middle of nowhere. |

| I live here and fly for SATS. Love the area and the job. Carolyn passed away recently (cancer) and the school, as far as I know, is closed now. |
