| Junior Member | if you can get to the overlooks on Mt. Washington that overlooks the three rivers it's a wonderful place to watch the fireworks. after that head down to the South Side and drink it bar hopping. Start at Jack's and work your way down. I spend new years tehre every year since my sister lives out there. good times. |

| Old Skool | Grrrr... I haven't looked at this thread in a while and I see there are 24 posts on it so I open it up thinking maybe some people have some good ideas for new years... Nope, just the Taylors having a conversation. Jeesh, you'd think you guys never heard of the phone (or talking across the room). ![]() |

| Old Skool | No worries. It was pretty funny actually. That is one nasty Xmass Avatar though. Is that blood flying off the back of Santa's sled? My theory is he was going to go deliver a bunch of presents to some vampires and the suction of the engine behind him was pulling the bags of blood out of the sled and they are bursting in the air. |

| Old Skool | Okie, here's the plan. Unfortunately this is going to be limited to people with flight benefits. Head over to Australia or New Zealand on the 27th or 28th and spend a day or so doing something. Then head back east the night of the 31st and celebrate New Years twice, once before crossing the date line and then once back in the States. I'd consider going over to Asia somewhere to do the same thing too I'd guess if somebody was interested in that instead. Any takers? |

| Big Chief's Woman | I'd love too but with those ID75 rates, it'd just be too pricey for one day. Gotta figure out how we can work on getting ZED fares at DAL.. hehe |

| Old Skool | ZED fares are the best. We have Medium Zone fares with Qantas and it works out to $97 for up to 9000 miles. I'm surprised Delta hasn't work ZED agreements yet. |

| Big Chief's Woman | we have some ZED agreements, like with SWA...but most are I90/75...we do need to work on that though. |

I'd wanna be down there for at least four to six days to make the long flight worth it. I went in October and it was a good time. Sydney then Melbourne. If you have an international jumpseat agreement on UAL which I assume you do, try that. If you can't get on United then there is Qantas as you mentioned. I ended up going down there on them and back on United (business class!). The real guaranteed way to get from the west coast to SYD is Atlas Air with a 30 minute fuel stop in HNL. UAL did not charge me the $85 departure tax in MEL. That's twice this year they forgot.
