Default Salt Lake City Ski-together

Heya everybody,

We were talking about throwing together a meet and greet in Salt Lake this January for the folks that ski. We can't set dates yet (I won't have my January bid back until something like December 20th), but I was thinking a Monday-Tuesday thing late in January. I can't hold weekends off, but Sunday-Wednesdayish seems to be good for me.

Anybody interested? I've got a midweek pass to Brighton so I'm all up for skiing Brighton, but we could probably do it where ever.

Well, I don't ski, but want to be there.

Can there be I will be at the lodge enjoying hot cocoa by the fireplace with the newspaper of this get together as well? If so I am in. Any hotels near-by we can start contacting?

whatever you want to do marky, is ok with me we're not going to know dates though for a while, so it might be a bit premature to book hotels. one thing to look out for when figuring this out is sundance (jan 17-27) so we might do better to do feb (before presidents weekend)

I'd like to come up too. Not sure what my Jan or Feb looks like but if it all works out I'm in.

Scumdance = bad time to be here

Did I tell you about my Nicolas Cage encounter?

If I can get some time I will go whenever

Early February would be my recommendation, good temps, accumulations, midweek means small crowds.

I'm in.

I'll be in SLC for a couple months starting next week. I'm bringing my skis so if anyone wants to ski prior to the get together, I'm game.

Yeah, Sundance isn't a good time to be in the Mountains.

I'm in though if I can bid the days off.

EDIT: Speaking of skiing...

Steepandcheap.com has a great deal on a Woman's HeliPro Backpack. I have one of their 1000 cu in packs and it is great for skiing with. $25 plus shipping. They sell until they are gone. They still have them as of 11:20am est.

<-----Will be the size of a walrus in Jan/Feb, and doesn't know how to ski. But hey, I'm willing to watch and hang out and do the hot cocoa/fireplace thing.

I thought all the stuck up 2 plankers went to Alta anyways. I'll tell you what you drop killer with me on the Milicent side and I'll switch to skis. How about the cliff under the quad ( once we lost a ski dropping that one). Usually not enough snow until later to do that one.

Mang we still need to have you guys over for dinner. Life has been so crazy lately.

Oh I can understand crazy. I've been back to Salt Lake for a grand total of 16 hours in the last 7 weeks. Emily got laid off from her summer job in PC and has been back in Michigan so I've been commuting outta Detroit.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Kind of an update.

I just got my December schedule and I'm gonna be rockin' Brighton on the following dates, probably chasing TheShortOne around at least one of each of these days.

December 3rd and 4th

December 10th and 11th

December 17th and 18th

December 25th and 26th

If anybody's around, let me know! I've got a pass and a new set of powder ski's that need a workout.

You gonna have any snow to play on?

Climate change sucks.

The high was 76 today, thanksgiving is three days away. The resorts usually open this weekend. We usually will have had a few heavy storms by now.

But climate change does not exist, it is an illusion conjured up by the right or left wing media (I forget which one I am supposed to distrust more).

When the Icecaps melt will I have beach front access at 4500 feet? That could be a positive I guess.

The oceans will only rise a few hundred feet, putting the beach in Semi Valley, CA, about 20 miles inland from the coast.

Have you ever actually been to Blyth? I had to set a dieing Seminole down there once on the way back to Willie. Damn... what a depressing place. Tower said to park it on the taxiway and walk across the sand to the truck stop if we wanted something to eat.

It's going to take a lot more then ocean front property to pick that place up.

Ok here's an update for January.

Anybody want to do some mid week skiing before sundance?

I'm thinking the 16th and 17th of January. I'm most likely commuting in on the morning of the 16th, but if anybody wants to come and rock it out I'll be there! I can pick you up from the airport and provide a place to crash and I'll even ski with you if you want to do Brighton.
