Sounds like you need a suga momma. I'm a stupid pilot so I need a suga daddy myself. Hmmmm... would that mean we need suga parents?

Also not a fan of The Rendevous. It's dry rub, and I don't like dry rub. BBQ should be messy and get all over everything. The Commissary is a good place. I also like Interstate. Corky's is slowly become the wet BBQ version of Rendevous in the tourist trap dept.

Memphis locals, who want BBQ go to the Commissary..
Yeah, I've lived in Memphis pretty much since '94 but I have never been so me and the roommate went up there the other night... Think we both pretty much decided that was the last time. And I like dry rub ribs, the rub was good, but the ribs just weren't that tender and they weren't juicy at all.

Figure that'll also be not so heavy on the wallet while still getting something Memphis-ish in. We're figuring around 2 pm. Any more questions feel free to PM either Pam or myself.

That's nowhere near the west side of town near I-40, but it is closer to my neighborhood.

I don't have any plans to move any time this decade, so I'm sure there will be another time.

As for The Commissary, i think it's a bit overrated, too. It's a Germantown thing. They've got good barbecue, but not as good as they seem to think. For better barbecue, Interstate barbecue is a good bet. Even Moma's in Bartlett (doubt you've ever heard of them) beats The Commissary. The best barbecue in the world is a 30-minute drive to Mason, TN, at Bozo's. (By the way, Memphis barbecue is pork shoulder slow-cooked in a pit. Skip the ribs.)

Yeah, I know. But according to Pam, the person she was gonna go see sounds like they're flaking out. It's a bit easier to get to that Huey's than send someone that's never been in MEM through Poplar or, worse, Madison.

Oh, sheesh, just meet somewhere folks!

I've endured plenty of mediocre meals at Peter Piper Pizza out of sheer convenience and compatibility with the group.

Yep, and like I said, just tell me where to be and I'm there. Actually I'm kind of glad, I was mostly excited about meeting you guys anyways, and now I can possibly bring my roomie and another JCer along to say hi!

Leonard's is good, and it's hard to resist all-you-can-eat. If you haven't already, you need to try Neely's on Mt. Moriah (less than a half mile from Leonard's). Uncle Neely's Interstate BBQ has 'em beat, but they do pretty good Q. They have a football on display autographed by Gale Sayers, so they got that goin' for 'em.

Since y'all are goin' to be so close to my home, I might be able to stop by. I won't be able to make it at 2, but I might make it later. Shall I ask for the jetcareers booth?

People in Memphis are so nice. We went to the Starbucks Drive-Thru just now and the gentleman in the car ahead of us picked up our bill.

Nice meeting everyone. Sorry I had to bail so quickly. Turned out it was a good thing, though. I got home and my poor wife was exhausted. She wound up going to bed at like 6 pm.
