Default Stuttgart revisited...

ok, so whose all going to Stuttgart for Oktoberfest?

We haven't even gotten hotel rooms yet but we still do want to go...

I also have a friend who wants to go but she needs a roomie to help save some cashola (esp with our dollar being so low).

I'd definitely like to go to Oktoberfest sometime but I'd probably stay in a hostel unless a hotel is really cheap.

if your young enough to do a hostel, do it...they are cheaper than hotels...but you better book now cuz they might all already be gone.

Hi- I'm the friend who wants to go to Oktoberfest in Germany!
The only thing is that I get bennies on CAL and they don't fly to Stuttgart. I would have to fly into Frankfurt and take a train (I assume). I may need to stay in the US if I can't figure out the logistics. I need to wear my fun Zurich Oktoberfest hat somewhere, right Kristie?!

Kristie is right Doug. Mike is there right now and is leaving on October 2nd. I arrive in Munich on the 4th and leave on the 8th. I don't think I'm going to be able to make it to Volksfest this year even though I am flying in and out of STR. I've got free lodging in Munich so that's a big $$ saver. Unless you guys have a big corner spot on the floor for me to crash at I might be able to make it over the day before I fly home. Australia and New Zealand sucked all my vacation time this year. I'm riding on a personal day and a bank holiday to make this O'Fest trip work.

Do you guys know when you are heading over yet? How come no Munich visit this year? We'll keep a shorter leash on Doug this time around.

well, we were supposed to head over today but doug's been a bit under the weather.. plus loads would have crapped out on us anyways cuz we would have gotten stuck in ATL today.. so we're gonna try in the AM and see how loads go again once we get to ATL.

I guess doug not feeling good, saved us some frustration in ATL.

No Munich this year since we're only taking a few days considering doug's not feeling all 100%. Plus, i'm not really ready for Munich again, I'm just not that good with major crowds like that, altho i did like the seating/benches better than at Volksfest.

So, if all goes well, we'll get into STR on Monday and leave on Thursday.

I arrive into STR on Thursday at 10:55AM. BMI Flight 3531....it may be operated by Lufthansa though. If you're still at the airport meet me when I come out of customs....I have about 1 hour to kill until my train to Munich. If you're already gone then we'll have to wave at each other in the air! Have fun!
