Hey, looking at that place, they have a "family size cabin" for 750/night for 4 people - it's 790/night for 8. If we toss 8 people in it, that's $98 per person/night. I'd totally be down with paying that and staying a couple of nights on the lake!

so...who's in and when are we going to do it??

Oh ya...all you can eat ribs and beans on Saturday night!!!
I have stayed at Cultus Lake, the cabins are pretty run down and drafty. I think you would be better off in a tent and save the $$$$.

I would rather pitch a tent myself too. Save the dough for beer and sausage dogs.
Another thing to think about is those that might be coming from another state might not want to drive out to central/eastern Oregon. (Unless they are driving in from a state to the east)
Also might be able to work out ride share. I may be able to pick some one up at the airport and shuttle them to the camping event and back.

Sounds like a plan. Know of any good camp grounds around western Oregon?

The cabins at Cultus Lake are definitley nothing to get overly excited about. I've thrown a tent down every summer for the past 15 years and stayed in the cabins once. Tent camping is the way to go.

The cabins in Sunriver are really nice but it's not exactly camping/cookout. Sunriver is a destination resort/city. It's about a 25-30 minute drive to the lakes from there. A lot of people may prefer this over camping. There's shopping, pools, tennis and KILLER golfing.

Sunriver Resort: http://www.sunriver-resort.com/
Crosswater Golf Course: http://www.crosswater.com/

But like Danbert said it may be easier to find something on the west side of the mountains. I haven't spent much time over there for camping but I'd be down for something new! Anybody got any good places over there?

I spent the majority of my childhood on the western side of the cascades and the Hood river area. If you are looking for a place to camp you have several thousand square miles of forest to choose from out there. Scout Lake used to be the best place on earth, but it was logged out about 10-12 years ago. Burt Lake was pretty cool too. I cant remember the names of most of the places I went when I was young, my dad would remember though.

As far as camping, there are thousands of places to go. Some of the nicer places with outhouses charge a small fee per campsite per night, some place do not.

here is a list of campgrounds in the mt. hood Nat Forest

My head is spinning, that was a flashback to ages 3 thru 14. I have been to or stayed at a ton of those places. Lost Lake is really cool. Trillium has good views of Mt. Hood, but is pretty busy. Everything on the Hood River side has some family history for me, my ancestors were some of the first white settlers to the Hood River valley. I really hope I can make this shindig.

Anything from class I to class V...depends on where we go and river levels. But it shouldn't be too much of a problem if you wanted some V.

Cool. I remember doing some rafting up here. Rough, but not quite V was my favorite.

My favorite place, Scout Lake, was logged out. Anything in the Hood River valley would be gorgeous. You can just drive up there and pick any logging road and find something though. There is a lot of terrain that is around the Boy Scout camp (Camp Baldwin I think it is) that would be ideal.

Camping would be a riot. The last time I went camping was the paintbrush divide in the Tetons.

here is what i propose:
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=...,0.211487&om=1

Rimrock Lake is on Hwy 12 between Packwood and Yakima. I know it is in Washington, but it is a pretty big lake with lots of camping. I would say June would be a good time.

Just my 2 cents.
