Default Dinner for the SOCAL Meet and Greet, the 10th

I wanted to start a new thread to discuss dinner for the SOCAL Meet and Greet.

First off it is despicable that the Yardhouse would not accept dinner reservations for thirty, simple as that. With a party that large we will account for about 10-15 percent of a restaurants revenue for that night, if they do not want to work with us, I got a big hairy butt that they can kiss. If we still want it there, great but if they do not accept a reservation and will not give us our own area AHEAD of time we should go to some other place.

I have been in touch with the managers at the McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant located at:

2101 Rosecrans Avenue
El Segundo, California 90245
It is about three miles from LAX.

They have been MORE than helpful...

They also would accept a reservation for 25-35 and have us in three or four tables close together in the dining room. The other thing is to that those that have an airline/aviation ID would get 25% off our entree purchases (they did say that if 20 out of 30 have it they probably would offer the discount to the whole group. I doubt they will be that picky about this)

edited to show that we do not have enough for a buffet.

Sounds like I need to bring my high heels and short skirt out of retirement! I'm workin' next weekend to save up some cash!

I've had M&S's... great food. I'll eat anything so I'm pretty easy. Good work!

Well the buffet is actually a VERY good price for what you are getting. It is up to everyone though. But figure about a twenty dollar difference for going to M and S as opposed to the Yardhouse.

good times! good eats! lots of parking! its right off sepulveda and rosecrans next to the pacific theater. i have had dinner there many times and it is a friendly cool environment. also it would be great for my commute since i live about 5 minutes from there. you have my vote.

for those that are staying in the long beach area its about 20 min north on the 405 exit rosecrans.

for those looking for after hours extra curricular activities manhattan beach is a good time as well as my home town of hermosa. see you all there!

Being from Maine and alergiec to "red" shellfish sucks.

That means no Lobester, Shrimp, Crab, etc. for me. I.e. all the good stuff.

I wolud be fine with either place though.

Is the discount for "all" airline employees, or just "crew"?

we only have 27 people reserved for dinner - how we gonna get that up to 30?

can everyone afford $40+ for dinner? and does that include a discount already or is a discount applied later? remember, we're talking about pilots here...

I don't normally pay that much for dinner myself (except in vegas), so that's why i'm asking....I'd rather pay that much in drinks! hahaha

if there are folks who are allergic to seafood, it's not going to be much of a good deal for them but i'm not one of the allergic ones so M&S sounds fine to me but i'd be more inclined for the sit down and order what you want vs the buffet thing tho just cuz of the cost alone!

Yep my bad, so no buffet!

It is up to everyone, I could care less and like you I would much rather pay for more drinks than eats!

The rebate is off of entrees 25% off the menu link I posted above and Jtrain said he is paying for it all .

Very nice manners!

I may be able to find a flight over for dinner. What time will it be? This is probably posted somewhere, but I am too lazy to look for it. TUS to LAX is very easy.

Toria: the link for thr other thread is http://forums.jetcareers.com/showthread.php?t=38812 (Long Beach M&G Feb 10-11 (Condensed))

If you get into LAX around noon on saturday somebody will be there to pick my sorry behind up or we can split a cab to the lunch locale.

BTW Seggy have you figured out how you are going to get out there? The noon thing applies to you too.

So what is wrong with just going to the Yardhouse and telling them we want a table for 30? Maybe we wait for 30 minutes or so but I am sure they can get something together. M&S is way overpriced, and way overrated.

Waiting for a table gives good time to chat with people. Unless we are there just to eat and run?

Thank you. I will read through it later. Right now I am am being scolded by my 3 year old niece because I was running Thomas the Tank Engine the wrong way on the tracks.......have no idea how to tell which way is the right way! But she sure is cute when she points her finger at me and tells me off in three-year-old language.

I dunno about you, but i have a problem with waiting 30 minutes or even one minute longer for a table when they won't even take a reservation for 27 people...it's not like we're asking for a reservation for 8.. we have 27 people...my best guess is that they won't be able to get us a table for that many people in 30 minutes, it'll take longer than that.

altho M&S is a bit overpriced, i wonder, how many would get to use the discount? is it enough to get the entire table a discount?? if that's the case, then it'd be worth it...I know i won't get a discount cuz i don't have an ID.

I'm afraid Houston's will probably be around the same prices (over here in SDL, they're pricey).

what restaurant options do we have over there? are there any ON the beach that would be worthwhile?

the bars close early there in LB???

Don't worry you're not alone. I don't like any kind of seafood! Does M&S serve only seafood? I'd take chicken or a hamburger & fries easy!
