Default MSP get-together

Since it's the best time of year to be out and about in Minnesota, who's up for an MSP meet & greet? I was thinking getting together for dinner would be nice and low key, but please reply with more imaginative suggestions if you have them.

Regarding date & time -- for me, pretty much any day of the week after dark is good, since airplanes and students don't fly after the sun sets. What works for you?

Regarding a place -- if it's for dinner, somewhere with awkward food would be fun, such as a sushi or ribs joint. Other suggestions?

Let me know dates and I'm more than likely in. No beer for me, since I'll probably have to go to work afterwards, but it'll still be good to meet up with people.

Wow..."awkward" food...I'm trying to think...

Truth be told, there isn't anything really amazing here with the exception of a Middle Eastern place called The Holy Land in north (or "norf") Minneapolis or a Kurdish place in d-town St. Paul. Maybe a place like Buca's would be better. Sounds like Stone Cold might be better sticking around STP for him to get to work later that night.

I live real close to STP, so anywhere is ok with me.

Ok, since our "limited availability" guy suggested next Monday, how does that sound? As for where, St. Paul will probably work better for our transient bald guy. Unless there's something going on at the Xcel, in which case downtown will be a nightmare. Buca's is actually a great idea, so I vote for that. Here's a map.

Maybe Brit's for next time? That's also a fabulous place with great atmosphere.

I’d totally be attending, if I weren’t stuck in Grand Forks with no time off in the near future.

No can do on Monday...I don't think.....My 4 day work rotation starts on Saturday.....Of course, I could always be sick......If were talking St. Paul, there is a Buca's on West 7th or if it Italian food we want....I could suggest a better place....Stephano's it is in Burnsville but very close to Joe's crash pad......

I checked and there's officially nothing happening on Monday in St. Paul, so your potential parking woes are no factor. 7pm?

Let's say 6 PM so I don't have to rush off too early. So, did we decide where we were meeting up?

Blee, let me know if you need a ride...I'll pick you up if somebody can take you back, so you don't have to leave early.

JEP, my crashpad is actually about 4 minutes from STP now. Blee is in the other crashpad, though...I'm sure he'll have some good stories about that place. Where is Burnsville? And, JEP didn't you say you were getting that bug that's been going around, say, Monday???

Not definitively, but let's make it Buca's in St. Paul at 6pm. It's centrally located and the food is edible (what a ringing endorsement).

I read in the lav that there's some sort of intestinal bug going around the entire country right now. It would be a shame if someone were to catch that and miss work. Although it does clear up fast, like around dinnertime.

I work in Eden Prairie and live in Prior Lake. No way I can make St Paul by 6, and I don't particularly care for Bucas anyway. Very average food at inflated prices. Now, if we were to go somewhere in Minneapolis at, say, 7pm, I am much more likely to go...

Well, I'm the most flexible, so you guys can decide amongst yourselves if you want to go somewhere else. I'll show up wherever!

I work in Eden Prairie also on Mondays. I don't have a problem with Buca's (menu: http://www.bucadibeppo.com/menu/default.aspx?id=2302) and I guess you pay for the ambience and big table seating. If you're anti Buca's, then maybe a place closer to MSP airport would make more sense. Shoot, it doesn't matter to me where we meet. Other ideas?

If we want somewhere near MSP airport, there's a bunch of places in Bloomington, which is a good compromise between Minneapolis and St Paul.

Alas, my wife works that evening, and THIS transient balding guy is going to have to sit this one out.

That is, unless, you all wouldn't mind three bored elementary-age boys and one 10-month-old girl gumming up the works ... Didn't think so!

Rats! Would have been nice to see those of you I know and meet those I don't (which is most of you).

Happy flying!

There's really no reason anyone should be excluded in this thing, especially seeing that we're talking around 10 people. Maybe we should all chime in with the days that WON'T work, and then it should be clear what day we can get the most people and we can go from there.

Me: Any day will work

Kristie, if the three boys were to come with me, there would definitely be some duct tape involved!

No, I work second shift at a newspaper and my wife works on most nights that I do not, so it's difficult for me to get away most evenings because of work or family.

A get-together for a weekend lunch would be a possibility for me, but I don't expect everyone to work around me. Just set a date and go for it, and if I can come, I surely will.

And yes, Dazz, it HAS been 10 months ... I think I've gotten at least 10 hours of sleep during that time. How's yours? Fatherhood is great, isn't it?

Well, so much for me being there...I just found out due to the Holiday, I will be overnighting in MDW Sat. and Sun. this week, and I won't be getting into STP until well after 10PM on Monday.

Y'all have fun and we'll have to set up some other M&G if and when this one goes well!!

Anybody in Chi-town have anything going on on Sunday?
