Default Alaska Meet n Greet

Since it seems that the number of Alaskans on the board seems to be on a steady increase, I think we should have a meet and greet.

If you are interested, we need to come up with a when and where.

How about a fishing trip in the summer. I'm in UT but would come up for that if you have some local joints we could fish.

Fishing would be cool. Any idea on what you want to fish for? Like deep sea fishing, casting, trolling?

I would....but i don't put the bait on the pole and i don't deal well with bugs, but i do like to fish or go bear watching or take pictures of wildlife(s)...

it might be funner for me to play "grab the fishy" during high season! haha

Sheesh, nobody want to visit this lovely place?

As for a fishing trip, I googled fishing charters in Alaska and I was overwhelmed with results. I found an operator out of Skagway. There are alot more up north.

I will be up in Palmer from sometime late March to around the beginning of May, so maybe we can schedule something in that are during that time period. Then I return to SE in May till about July. I have access to a small boat here and I we could fish, and sight see. But its all up to you guys.

I added a poll to see where people would like to visit.

I vote Fairbanks! Probobly becuase I'm already here.

If you want fishing, I like salmon fishing in the streams myself.

We do have one of the last flying ATL-98 Carvairs up here... (one of 2 flyable ones, and this one works on a regular basis). There is only one other (for 3 total) known to still exist.

He hides is the shadows in the Valley waiting to throw salmon eggs on your back, or maybe one of those Japanese glass fishing net balls to bounce off the top of your head, and to laugh and point at your lower-48 flashy orange Columbia snow bunny parka (real Alaskans wear only Carhartts)!

Yes, yes, come to Alaska! mu-a-ha-ha-ha!

(I think the sub-zero temps and two weeks of no flying is making me a little batty).

*Bump* With all the meet-n-greet activity going on down south, it would be nice to get the ball rolling on an Alaska meet-n-greet

After I return from Mexico mid March, I will be in Palmer for a month and half getting my PPL.

The Beartooth and Moose's Tooth are owned by the same company so both are pretty awesome.

Is anybody up for a meet and greet up here in August or September.

Its guaranteed to be cooler than other parts of the country

I cant guarantee I will be there, but I can do my best to help organize the event.

When do hotel rates go down up there Alec? September or October?

I'm almost thinking July or August myself just to get out of the heat for a bit.
