Somalia.....No way.....Yucky place. I have seen it from the flight deck offshore. Not where I'd choose to go.

pic below taken just off the coast while in support of Operation Restore Hope. If you look real close, you can see me in the letter T, 4th person from the left. ;D.

Panama and Turkey

Apparently it's big underground business to marry an "available Puerto Rican" just to get a green card.

How long ago was that? I see all the EA6's on the deck, and no hornets, had to have been a lil while ago!

One must not be afraid of google....

Yes, it was a long time ago, Fall of 1992 to be exact. We were on station in the Persian Gulf when it hit the fan and were directed to the coast of Somalia. Glad to be leaving the Gulf, but started to think we me miss our port calls in Perth and Sydney because of the mess. We did not thankfully and not too long after arriving off Somalia, we were headed on our way to Perth, New Years Eve in Perth, absolutely incredible.

Operation Restore Hope was in 92/93. I've got TARPS photos from VF-2 of the airport and port facility in Mogadishu. There were never Hornets attached onboard the Ranger. It was strictly Grumman Iron Works. F-14, A-6E, EA-6B and E-2C. Them were the days the S-3's had a real job. I miss the Intruder.
