| I went on Friday (technically the rehearsal). Blue Angels were awesome as was every plane that went up on Friday, but for the love of god bring an air pack (dust issues huge). Goodyear dropped the ball big time on this show. Instead of putting it near the main area, they shoved the event down towards the south hangars in a very large and moondust like field. You have to park in another lot that, outside the event and get brought in by a trailer (hayride type). Great when they didn't wet down the field and everyone is covered in dust going to the event. It is lovely when you want to grab a beer, or food, or soda and as you are paying, one of the event vehicles goes driving by and lauches a large dust cloud up in the air and into your very expensive (8 dollar beer)....... It has turned more into a town fair than anything. Again though, the show was great (though I left after the Blues....anything else would have seemed slow and anticlimatic at that point). |

| Its a Carnaval with the Blue Angles. VERY few static displays, more for kids, not pilots.

| Big Chief's Woman | oh my..normally a city can get into trouble with the state for not taking environmentally friendly standards into account. They should have put hay down to keep the dirt at bay but depending on how large the area was, goodyear probably doesn't have the money yet to pay for that type of expense...altho the fine for evading dust control could be high too. i guess it's a good thing we didn't go either.. altho i do miss seeing hte balloons! |

| Agent Smith | Oh man, flying dust and hay, I'd be catatonic about now.

| To say that goodyear dropped the ball is the understatemnt of the year! We got there around 2:30 today.... and found that that the ONLY way into the show is to board a school bus from the parking lot...... the line was over 2 hours long! we left... and watched the blue angels from a parking lot at the end of the runway... (which turned out to be a better vantage point, as the blue angels flew directly overhead) after the blue angels flew we waited for awhile to get on the bus to take us in.. When we got there you could hardly breathe from all the dust! One of the first vendors when walking in was my school, which had one of their sr22 on display, however they were made to park it in the dirt... (when i say dirt... i mean loosly packed dirt with about 2 inches of dust on top of it) The wings of the airplane were literally brown as was the interior (I wanted to take a picture of this, however my camera had dead batteries)... That airplane is going to have to be gutted to clean all the dust from it. (wheel bearings, and avionics especially!) There were VERY few static aircraft on display... I was happy to see the B-17 sentimental journey... (It too was in all that dust). The only performers we saw were the blue angels (from outside the airport), and the guy who does aerobatics at night with fireworks on his wings. Both were awesome. The line for the busses exiting the show was nothing more then TOTAL DISORDER. I am very disappointed this year.... after such a good show last year at glendale. I dont think i will go nextyear if it is at goodyear! Oh well... *sigh* i guess luke days is only 4 months away... |
