Deciding on it...If I cant get the VIP seating and parking (at the mall), it makes it kinda crappy, so Im not sure. I should be working too, but there are TFRs going on all weekend so it messes things up...Its also Fleetweek though; I saw an aircraft carrier sitting off Port Everglades yesterday. Pretty neat

I wonder how much they charge for a room at that hotel right at the beach on Sunrise?

I'm probably gonna go on Sunday. I really don't want to miss the last F-14 display at the show.

Why is it the last? If anything you will see a lot more performing.

Cannot wait! Anyone seen the carrier sitting just off of the beach?

Spectators at this year's Air & Sea Show will get an unexpected -- and perhaps bittersweet -- treat: The chance to say goodbye to the Navy's legendary F-14 Tomcat fighter.

"This is the last time Fort Lauderdale's going to see the Tomcat," said Lt. Rob Ceravolo, the hometown boy who'll be piloting one of two F-14s making high-speed passes during both days of the air show May 6 and 7.

It's too bad we don't have an airshow at one of our airports down here. It'd be really cool if they were to have one at Homestead ARB with various aircraft on static display.

No way, we'll see F-14s for a while...The Sentinal also had a whole pictorial on the airshow some years back and called the F-15 the Tomcat....So I wouldnt take too much stock in what you read.

I saw everything..Some from the air, some on the ground at FXE....Just don't feel like dealing with the beach crowds. Gotta love the Angels though

On another note, on Friday the Golden Nights jumped on to the Hard Rock Casino grounds which are near my house, so the F-27 dropped them litterally right over our heads. Kinda neat

I saw it along with 100000000000000000000 people on the beach. It was fun though. Everyone we where sitting by all had some form of flight training so we all had appreciation for what was going on. We all got along great. Ohh yea, there was more beer between our little group than the rest of the beach.

Haha, cool! Were you there today or yesterday?

I got there at around 1:30pm (1hr bus ride from Boca along federal) and went straight to the beach. I thought it was a little weak comparing to previous years. (Maybe because I got there at 1:30?) All I really saw was the F-15, A-10, Coast Guard demo, Red Barons, Harley Cessna XLS?, and Fat Albert along with the angels. I guess the F-22s weren't there today? I was also hoping to see the B-52, F-117, KC-135, B-2, and especially the B-1. I guess I'll see them next year.

I got some photos (came out better than last year) that I'll post later. I used sun lotion and still got burned.

There were two drunk guys next to me cursing and discussing the airplanes as if they knew what they were talking about. Pretty freakin' hilarious. They were saying how the A-10 has that long rod in the front for mid-air refueling when it was actually the cannon.

Hahaha. Good to sea that you had a nice time too. I was on the beach all day saturday. I am so red from the sun but I think everyone there was. We got to the beach at like 9:30 and there was a lot of people all ready there. Just about all the planes that you said you wanted to see where there on saturday.

I got a phone call today from a friend of mine asking if I wanted to go see it all again today. He said that his neighbor was taking a bunch of people out and I was invited. I showed up to find out that we where going out on a 72ft Viking fishing boat. Turned out to be another great day. Incredible boat... incredible day... incredible females... incredible amount of booze x2. Oh yea, nice planes too.

Next year I'm gonna see if I get some people together and rent a boat or something. It's an extremely unpleasant experience to be under the scorching sun with those people. A lot of them don't have neither class nor manners.

It does get worse every year. I remeber that up till' 2001 (I think), they had an F-16 as static display before the bridge on Sunrise blvd. They also had a helicopter or two and a bunch of ground vehicles both outside and inside in the mall.

Personally, I'd rather they shut down the Air and Sea show and do a show at Homestead ARB instead. That way they could put a bunch of static aircraft for display and you could actually see the aircraft land and takeoff. I wouldn't mind paying to go to one of those.

You are too young to remember I guess, but they used to have the show at Opa-Locka airport. I was real young too, but I remember it kicked butt Also when they used to keep the birds at FLL, I used to go out on the ramp to take pics. Those were the days...that is, before 9/11 and extra security for those 17yr old FL natives who love taking pics of planes (shakes head)

And I do remember that static F-16. It was non-flyable but it sure got you stoked for the show.

Even though it may be going downhill, it is still the worlds largest airshow. (for attendance)

You make it sound like it's a good thing. I'd rather see less people going.
