Default Someplace In Texas - Arlington, Perhaps??

OK, so I have a plane ticket in hand to fly out to El Paso, pick up a Twin Comanche that's sitting in New Mexico, and fly it back. Lindsey will be coming along for the ride, as well. And, although that darn plane can fly forever with no need for a fuel stop, I don't think that either one of us will make it for 10 hours at economy cruise so we can do it non-stop.

So, we decided, we'd stop somewhere and find some trouble to get in!!! Being that We have a couple of JC'ers at Skymates, AND I'm a Season Pass holder at Six Flags, it seemed like a good spot!!!

Soooo....who's in the general area? Anybody up to hang out? You never know . . . I may end up staying longer. From what I can gather about this airplane, Lindsey and I have nicknamed it "The Millennium Falcon" . . .

Let me know!!!

When are you guys coming though? I'm here (and Six Flags is for sure an option), and I think John H will be down next week sometime.

So, if the plane is the Falcon, who's Chewbacca?

I'll be there Tuesday afternoon. I'm driving to Tulsa I think on Monday (about 12 hours from Michigan without any major snafu's), then the final 5 to Arlington on Tuesday.

Ok, I'll try this again...my internet hasn't been working very well all day.

Lloyd, when are you going to be in town? I'm north of Arlington in Denton and can easily make the drive down to meet/hang out with you all. Let me know.

From the looks of it, sometime on Friday early in the afternoon. I'd like to get out of the NM/West Texas area before too many TS's start to pick up. . .

This is gonna be a good time! I don't know many pilots that will pass up free food. Let me know if I should bring something.

Bob, I'm liking that idea!! We won't be in any hurry to leave Arlington. I'm not flying until Sunday morning, so we'll probably be on the ground in GKY for 18-24 hours. Let the good times roll!!

PM me for my cell phone number, and I'll get yours!! That goes for all y'all!!

My schedule is clear all day on Friday, so I'm up for whatever. We're flying out on Sat sometime to drop me off in OLV. Maybe we could do a Twin Commanche/172 formation flight.

[/ QUOTE ] OK... so here's an update on the GKY Front...

Met John H. at Skymates yesterday and again today... he is totally psyched about flying and seems to be very motivated... on top of that... he brought beer all the way from Michigan for everyone to try... John... see if Ryan is coming.

Steven (Kellwolf) is in the pad with John, both are free tomorrow afternoon.

Travis (Flugsmachine) looks to be off all afternoon as well and will be joining us...

CapnJim has been notified... is home with nothing to do on Friday... has no excuse not to come... soooo.... we'll just see what happens there.

NTXPilot , JDE, and KLB all seem to be on board as well.

Still trying to drum up a few others, and checking with the ATP folks as well...

I myself am on my way to Sams Club to pick up some Burgers, Brats, and Dogs... I'll provide the PG-13 refreshments and anyone else is welcome to BYOB.

It looks like the Lloyd and Lindsey show will be storming in to GKY sometime early afternoon hopefully ahead of the wonderful afternoon pop-up storms we have out here in the summer.

Lloyd never called me after I PM'd him.... soooooo... wha's up wid dat? So I'm trying to get things rolling. I'm thinking that folks can either meet at my place or GKY around 1:00 and we can go from there. I have a big backyard, gas grill, shade, patio furniture, music and a hammock which is great for resting in after loooong flights... trust me on this one.

I live just off of I-20 just 5 mins from GKY. PM me for directions and a contact number and we'll try to keep this thing coordinated.

Later that evening is up to everyone... Six Flags is open from 10a-10p both Friday and Saturday... other than that... I'm sure the locals here will know the hotspots to take L&L to show them our fine Metroplex!

Oh yeah... and who's picking up Doug when he Jumpseats into DFW tomorrow!?? LOL!

OK... so... Let's roll here... who else is comin'?

I'm always up for Six Flags, especially since Coke cans in the GKY area are a big ole $15 off coupon.

Heh, I was at Skymates yesterday afternoon, too. I was just trapped in one of the ground school rooms for hours doing CFII training with Walter.

Ryan,

You gonna be there... I pretty much told the other guys to meet at Skymates around 12:30... if Lloyd & Lindsey aren't there yet then we'll move them over to Harrison or my place, and await their arrival.

You were asking about Jim... well, I told him about the shindig and he said he just might be there... (just short of a confirmation...) We'll see!

So if you end up with a bunch of hungry guys just hanging around your office... now you know why!

I think John and I might be out shooting some approaches for a bit. I'm meeting him up there around 11:45 AM, but we should be done not too much later, probably around 2ish.

No problem... I'll told the other guys that I'd confirm the time in the morning. So if we need to push it back a bit, so be it. If all else fails... we'll send them over to Harrison to steal all the cookies and coffee!

Up early this morning to go do some spin training with Ryan and it looks like the storm is going to move in today at about 10:00 a.m. and be gone by 2:00 p.m. I'm guessing we're not shooting those approaches, but I'll probably be up at Skymates reguardless of what happens studying for the CFII written.
