Up early this morning to go do some spin training with Ryan and it looks like the storm is going to move in today at about 10:00 a.m. and be gone by 2:00 p.m. I'm guessing we're not shooting those approaches, but I'll probably be up at Skymates reguardless of what happens studying for the CFII written.

What are you doing spin training in?

OK... so, don't know if Lloyd is going to make it early enough to beat that. So... The cookout time will most likely be changed to @ 2:00. If you anyone else has other suggestions... I'm flexible.

First of all, I'd like to thank Bob and his lovely wife for allowing us all to hang out at their home, drink beer and tell lies!! It was definitely nice to be able to relax and have a good time, and it's your hospitality that made that possible!!!

To all the folks that came out, THANKS! It's always a good time to meet some fellow pilots and JC'ers. We all need to thank John for the awesome Oberon, too! I have a serious problem now - I love that stuff, and I don't know how I'm gonna get it!!

Again, thanks for all of your hospitality!! Now, we've gotta get some pics hosted!!!

Mmmmm.....Bell's!

As far as finding some Oberon, you could always come to Michigan.
Or try the Bell's beerfinder.
Or bribe some dude from Michigan to smuggle some the next time he flies to TN. I know a guy - he's not cheap, but he can be had!

Well Lloyd, You might just have to start making your students do their x countries up to Michigan! They sell it here in 6packs and cases - or if you want to go to the source have them head over to AZO.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, that beer was pretty good; even if it wasn't from Texas . Next time the Ziegenbock and Shiner are on me.

Wah? No Fat Tire?

I think there was going to be a BNA beer run, but thunderstorms severed Lloyd's "connection." They also more or less screwed John and my plans on getting back to GKY yesterday. Good thing my parents live in MEM, it was cheaper than a hotel room. Kinda sobering to look at the "slight build up" we flew through early today is now a line of full blown t-storms reaching FL 450!

HUGE thanks to Heidi and Bob for hosting the event. Had tons o fun, and it's always good to hang with JCers. I still have yet to find someone on this site that I wouldn't fly with.

Hey,

Thanks for the kind words everybody! I had a great time and enjoyed cooking for you guys!

Good food, good beer, good people... good times!

So, you made my wife a bit more comfortable now that she's met you guys! I mean really... When I told her that I wanted to throw a cookout she was really cool about it. I went to Sams club, bought the meat, cokes, chips, etc... tried to coordinate as many people as I could to get there, and just hours before the get-together we had a converstion that went a bit like this:

Her: "So, who's coming?"
Me: "I don't know for sure..."
Her: "Huh? What do you mean?"
Me:" Well, you know that website that I spend all my time on... you see there's a guy on there bringing a student of his through GKY, and a bunch of other guys decided to meet up with him."
Her: "So... do you even know these people?"
Me: "Well... Yes... I mean... not personally, but I've known some of them online for a while... at least... I've read some of their posts before and they all seem really nice... actually I met one of them at the airport yesterday! So... I do know one!"
Her: "hmmm"

LOL! Suffice it to say, you guys made me proud! She thought everyone was supercool and she said next time just to tell her that I've invited some pilot friends over versus some "online" friends!

Lloyd - Great to finally meet you! I loved hearing your stories. Especially the ones about Network JC '04... '05 should be reaaalllly interesting! We'll hit Hooters for the free beer next time you come!
Lindsey - Nice meeting you to. I'm so sorry you have to put up with Lloyd! I take it the M'Falcon made it all the way!?
John - Great beer, you're from Michigan... what's not to like!? By the way... you are the only one with pics... post a few! And Dude... Was it like your Birthday that day???? Why didn't you let us know? Happy Belated Birthday Dude!
Ryan - Glad you made it! Didn't realize you lived so close. So you're a lawn guy too huh? I might need to pick your brain on that!
Steven - Good times! Loved your airline stories from the "other than a pilot's" perspective. Hope you and John didn't kill each other on your Long XC!
Travis - Thanks for coming and bringing your student!
Kelvin - Awesome meeting you... Good luck finding a CFI gig!
LT - Get the MBA! Wonderful meeting you and Eva. Hopefully we didn't bore her too much.
Jason - Thanks for making the drive, and good luck to you as well. If anyone is looking for a CFI in DFW... Look at Jason and Kelvin! You need these guys! Jason is also doing the right seat program at FS!

So... overall we had Student pilots, a Private pilot, Commercial pilot, CFI's, a flight school asst. manager (also a CFI), an airline pilot, a pre-med student, and a nurse, and an adorable 3.5 year old future pilot... what a great group!

See you in the skies!

Bob

Lloyd's on the wrong side of the force for the M. Falcon. He looks like he's about to shoot some dark-side force lightning in pic 9.
