| Agent Smith | I mean, Disney is a good time once in a while, but the big thing is that my in laws can get into Disney for free which excites Kristie. Well, there's nothing 'free' especially when you come home with bags and bags full of junk from the Disney gift shops that usually end up going straight to the closet or in the "Mickey's alright, but Eisner is satan incarnate" Doug Taylor pile. But then I keep reminding her that we lived in Orlando for about three years, went there probably twice and probably wouldn't have made the effort to go even if Disney had a "come visit, we'll pay YOU $50!" Perhaps downtown Disney a few times, but I think I've spent less money playing 'drunken craps' in Las Vegas trying to 'win my money back'. Well, actually, after looking at loads planning for a vacation later this month, it's actually easier and less expensive for me to fly from PHX to CDG (Paris), book a fairly nice hotel, have an authentic "prix-fixe" meal in the Rue Cler and snap a photo in front of tour eiffel - compared to finding a NRSA seat on oversold flights, fly to Orlando, pay park admission, pay for hotel and parking, stand in line for reservations at "Paris" at Epcot and drop $80 on a plate of 'boeuf bourguigone!' ![]() |

| Old Skool | That's why Disney gives employees free park admission: they bring friends who spend money on merch. Bottom line is Disney breaks even on admission for the most part. They make their cash off merch and food. They don't even pay for Coke, they just place a bunch of "sponsored by" ads all over the property, and they get Coke products in exchange. Oh, and Eisner is Satan and stepping down later this year. Too bad they picked his flunky to be his replacement, so I doubt much will change in the near future. It's a shame that the only remaining member of the Disney family, Roy Disney, wants next to nothing to do with the company as it now stands...... |

| Big Chief's Woman | ok ok.. the first time I went to disney when my sister's hubby started working there - yea.. bought a lot of crap.. right before xmas thought people might like something but they didn't, so not doing that again...now a days, I go over there.. sister and I go to all the parks, I buy a few tshirts and things for me at property control. I'm not even paying retail prices (got a friend at disney - have them take you to property control!)... so technically, I don't really see myself supporting disney all that much - just using the benny's of family cuz they like to go walk around there with baby! ![]() |

| Old Skool | Property control = tha bomb, yo! When Pooh bear took out Nessa's shoulder, she worked there for a while. We managed to get a 27" TV and a king size bed for around $100. You gotta go early, and you gotta know when they're getting stuff. Ride pieces tend to pop up at the auctions, and restaurant equipment is out there a lot, too. I actually enjoyed going to the parks when I lived in ORL. Not in any kinda of hurry, so if the lines were too long, I'd leisurely stroll around and people watch. Plus, it's kinda cool to think "Hey, I want to ride the Haunted Mansion" then just drive over and do it. The other day I thought, "Pirates of the Carribean would be fun right now," then I got depressed...... |

| All this Disney talk is reminding me how happy I am my g/f is coming home in a week from there. That place is the devil. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy going to FL. Pleasure Island was ok. But after two days, I was ready to leave! |

| Old Skool | Actually, College Program at Disney is more like entering into a few months of voluntary indentured servitude. You get paid the same as everyone else (which is not much), then Disney turns around and takes money out for housing......an insane amount considering you're in an apartment with about 6-7 other people and sharing a room. You normally get the work hours the full time and part time employees don't want, and Disney makes out like thieves since the program is government subsidized. |
