So...I might be able to go if I can find some cheap airfare. I will have accrued one vacation day by that point and I can use it for that friday. However, you do realize that it's like a 2-3 hour drive from Denver to Breckenridge right?

[/ QUOTE ]

It is only 80 miles, so about an hour and a half including traffic.

All more than likely drive with someone which will be the much cheaper option anyway.

Sweet! Count me in.

I might be able to help some people out with transportation. I have some pass segments left but they are only for the SKYW system.

Look at this map to get an idea of where you can fly from/to. I assume most people are going in and out of DEN.

route map (look at the combined map)

Let me know if I can help. Keep in mind this is standby and could end up royally screwing you!

I'm psyched! I went to Brighton last week and tried out a pair of Rossi B2's... crazy how far ski technology has come.

When are you people gonna learn that boarding is better?

Once you try it you'll never go back to those goofy skis and clunky boots......no one EVER goes back!!

I second THAT! Skis for 8 years, then I tried a board 7 years ago and never went back! SOOOOOOO much more fun!

BTW, what are we looking for for a ballpark price? My wife says I can go if its not too much and I can scam that friday off of work...

I went back. I hated snowboarding. My brother now snowboards and skis depending on his mood.

ahhh, you just gave up too easy, once you get good at boarding there is no comparison, especially in the steep and deep!

a lot of people don't like boarding because the crashes are so much more violent in the learning stages... since your just slammed into the ground when an edge catches because the board doesn't release, and its extremely tiring on your back leg until you figure it out, but once you get past that stage and learn to ride the edges and carve its all good....completely effortless

I am in subject to the whims of the scheduling Gods. I will have to try to bid around that weekend and make the trip. Keep us posted, Tony, on the costs involved.

DEN is the closest airport for sure. Well, Eagle County is probably about an hour away. And there's Leadville as well if someone wants to fly there in a mighty C172.

But seriously, folks, DEN is your best bet. I've flown out to DEN on a Sat morning at 6:00 AM, arrived at about 8:00 AM MST, and been on the slopes skiing at 10:30 MST.

It is about a 90 minute drive from the airport to Breck and you can hop on a shuttle if you want to.

Hop on a shuttle? i bet that puppies pretty pricey!!

I'd love to eliminate the need for a car if we fly up there (save some $$ for the rest of the year's events)... is Breckenridge a "walkable" city?

Actually, no, I think it was like $30 each way when I was last there.

And once you get to Breck, it is absolutely walkable.

The driver would have to roll us out the door by the time we got to Breck.

Actually, since you mentioned it, Kristie, if we get enough people coming in at the same time, we can book our own van!

Heh heh heh. Let all the suckers who don't have the secret JC handshake down go to the CME desk themselves. We'll just head on over, and say, yes, we have a reserved van?

I like replying to myself.

Here's what I'd like to do. Let's go for Breck on the weekend of February 25, 26, and 27.

Cool thing about Breck is that you've got four resorts right there -- Breck, Keystone, Copper and A-Basin. We're only going to be there for three days so we won't be able to do them all. Hell, we won't even be able to do all of Breck!

Based on those days, who is in? Give me a count by no later than say, 5PM EST next Wednesday so that I can start planning.

See ya on the slopes!

[/ QUOTE ]

Ok let me give you a tentative yes.

I've gotten the time off work, now I just have to get that tax return and be able to afford it!

But I'll give a tentative Yes...

It's looking affordable, I just looked at fligths for around $260 from CHS to DEN... so providing the lift tickes and lodging aren't too bad, I'm in.

So, folks. What do you think of this?

http://www.skibreckenridgecolorado.n...l.asp?id=31769

And check out the price. $356 a night.

We can get eight in there, so give me your feedback.

See ya in Breck!

Let me know what weekend. I'm putting in my February bid right now. Actually, I already put it in... but I can change it.

Also, I just tried snowboarding. It was definitely fun, but I got rocked. Too icy that day. I think I'll go with skis this time.

Place looks good. You need help with anything Tony? Don't want this all on you.

I'm trying to get up to Brighton this weekend. 9" new and their base has gone up 40something inches in the past month.

Shwing!

It's all good, my friend. I don't mind throwing down the plastic until you guys show up and pay me. I don't think it's like last year, where I had to send a check!

Anyway, you're in, grabo's in, seggy's in, and then there's me. We're halfway there, folks!
