Hi to all Florida Pilot's! I'm an Austrian Pilot and will be in Florida (to be exact in Indialantic, close to Melbourne-KMLB) from Sep.1 until Sep.10, flying the missing hours towards my commercial in a 172SP, Warrior and some hours in the Arrow. If anybody wants to meet for lunch, dinner or whatever - I'm in, no matter where. I can also pick one or two pax up, I need the hours anyway. So if there's somebody who wants to meet with an Austrian Pilot in Florida, let me know. I'm looking forward meeting some of you guys! |

If you'd care to fly over to TPF here on the west coast of FL, I'd spring for lunch. Save you some $$ and get you some flight hours.

I have been flying in Florida for several times, but never ended up landing at TPF so that would be a good reason. Looks like a cool airport with all the water around it. Probably one of the most scenic I've flown into or out of. Just drop me a line when/if you want to head this way and I'll meet you there. |

That's cool, I'm looking forward to it! When is the best date/time for you? I'm on "flying-holidays", so I can pretty much adjust my schedule. |

When I'm back down in FL, I'll swing by TPF in the Seneca. Might fly out there late afternoon and back that night. Still need a night VFR x-country. Then again, I'll have to check the distances from ORL on that. Cross City is a perfect one, but there is NOTHING there.

Cross City is a cool airport. There used to be pigs there and you could buy a beer for them in the restaurant and they would guzzle it down. That was where I went on one of my solo XC's for the PPL. Skyrunner, if you ever want to fly up to Daytona and meet for lunch let me know. There are some good places to eat close to the airport and Flagler County has an excellent place to eat on the field. |

Brian: where in south-east Florida are you located? Which airport? As long as it's not KMIA I can fly there and visit you if you like. ready2fly: I will contact you as soon as I'm in Florida. I found out today, that I maybe could take an earlier flight to Florida...we will see... btw: do you know how to hook up a laptop with dial-up Internet in central Florida? A friend told me once, that there is a possibilty to dial-up for free with a special phone number... kellwolf: it would be cool if you could join us too! Do you know when you will be back down in Florida? EDUC8-or: thanks a lot for the invitation, I definitely will head up to Daytona and land this time, I have done a lot of IFR-training approaches into DAB, but never to a full stop... |

[ QUOTE ] What Seneca? [/ QUOTE ] AO is buying another twin. I was hoping they would just take anything that was a decent plane and had two engines. After talking to them on the phone the other day, it sounds like they are dead set on another Seneca to stay consistant. I would've been okay with a Duchess or a Seminole, and I probably could've been done by now..... |

[/ QUOTE ] No problem. Even if you don't have much time you can stop by our FBO and have a coke or something. If you have more time I'll take you to lunch. [ QUOTE ] Mmmmm. Grouper sandwich. [/ QUOTE ] HighJackers has excellent food. You know it's a good place if the pilots are in the minority. They also have live music and I've flown in a couple nights and seen some really great bands. |

Or try Netzero. You have to really look close on their site to find the free access, but it's there. Limited to only 10 hours per month, and you have to check if they have local phone numbers in the area you're staying. |

Thank you all you guys for the invitations, but unfortunately my plans got weathered out by Frances, so I had to leave Florida with nearly nothing done , except that I got to experience a hurricane first-hand and that's something you fortunately will never find in central Europe. But we've got snow storms and lots of avalanches in the alps during the winter months, which can be bad either. I'm looking forward to come back to Florida to my missing hours and finally get the commercial license done, what I'm trying to do since January this year... But for now I have to go back to university, which starts next week, so I will probably be back around christmas, because we've got long holidays then. I would be happy if I could meet some (or even better: all!) of you guys next time, when there are no hurricanes devastating beautiful Florida. I hope you guys are all ok after this already hefty hurricane season. According to the chaos theory you should have had enough storms for the next decade, but I'm still a little concerned, because you are only 50% through the season.... I wish you all the best for the second half! Hopefully the major storms are over now! Maurice |
