| Hey everyone. I am going to have a Chicago layover tonight. I was wondering where is a good place to go to get some good grub in downtown. We are thing italian/pizza for dinner. We are flying into MDW but can cab it into town. Thanks for your help.

| For good italian food and pizza you wont have to go far from MDW. Right on the SE corner of the airport there is an italian pizza place called Giordano's. Excellent pizza, pasta and salads. Nice place to relax, eat and have a few cold ones. It is located directly across the street from rwy 31C threshold. Afterwards, just hop on the orange line (el located behind the terminal) to downtown and visit navy pier. Hope you have a good time.

| I'll second Giordano's. If you feel the need to go downtown anyway, I'm a big fan of Gino's East (pizza just edges out Giordano's). |

| Thanks everyone. We ended up taking the "el" downtown and went to Lou Minetta's. The food was amazing. Well I am off to bed. 1:00pm departure to Kansas City tomorrow. See you all later.

| This is an old thread but, in my homesick state, I'd recommend a place called "Piece" in Wicker Park about a block away from the Milwaukee/Damen Blue Line stop. Its a pizza place that does thin "New Haven" style pizza and home-made microbrews. Its not a chain, not too hipster, its cheap, and its won awards for both the beer and the pizza. While more convienent to ORD folks - its still worth the trip. Kewl neighborhood, too. http://www.piecechicago.com
