Post CFII in Dallas/Forthworth area

I'm moving to Dallas in October in hopes of networking and building time instructing. I know jobs are slim right now, but someone out there has to need a well trained CFII with a 4 year degree in Flight Operations. Has anyone on JC ever been to or attended Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi?

Try US Flight Academy in Denton, they probably still need CFIs. They're training Chinese student like crazy these days.
Good luck!

I believe KLB is an alumnus. I know a bit about the place, they are our NIFA region archrivals.

I live in the Dallas area and am having a hard time finding a CFI job. I got in my car and just handed out resumes in to every flight school around, and haven't heard much. Denton might be good though.

Hang around the airports and instruct independently.

The hours, the pay, and for the most part he aircraft are better.

The best advice I can give you is 1) Make sure you have a solid resume and 2) Don't be afraid to tell people you are looking for a job! The competition for jobs is very tight right now, including Texas. Too many [qualified] pilots on the street and very little jobs, but don't get discouraged. The key is to Network and make direct contact with the employer.

Just to give you some statistics here. This is from the U.S. Labor Department!

Top 5 Ways APPLICANTS Look for Work:
1. Internet Job Postings / Want Ads
2. Employment Agencies
3. Placement Agencies (Head Hunters)
4. Word of Mouth
5. Direct Contact with the Employer

Top 5 Ways EMPLOYERS Look for Applicants:
1. Internal Networks
2. External Networks
3. Employment Agencies
4. Placement Agencies (Head Hunters)
5. Internet Postings / Want Ads

Even if you don't live in DFW, yet. It is never too early to look for a job and network. If you see a job posting of interest or hear about a possible opportunity, the first thing you should do is call upon your contacts. Utilize friends, co-workers, relatives and any networks, whether it is Linkedin, Facebook, Jetcareers, etc. You have to be very proactive, flexible and have a lot of patience in this economy if you want to get a job. Nobody will come knock on your door and offer you a job! Your best bet is to visit the employer (if possible) and make direct contact! Also, a lot of people see a job posting, send out an email and attach their resume in hope they will get a call soon. Forget it! Like I said, you need to be proactive! Follow up a week later and if they don't have any current opening, re-establish contact every 4-6 weeks and let them know you are still out there and interested. Trust me, they will remember you and keep your resume on top of the pile. Good Luck! And if you have more questions, we are here to help.

I've heard US Flight Academy is expanding their operation to KRBD. I talked to Cutter Employee who told me that the Cutter locatin at RBD will be closed in the near future and a flight school will be taking over that building. I think US Flight Academy will be training a lot of their Chinese students there. Monarch Air is another good place to instruct. Im not sure if they are hiring though.

Any time frames attached to the rumors. Not surprised Cutters bailing, things have been real quiet at RBD. Its like the tower guys are just happy to talk to someone

US flight academy is not a great place to work. they are about everything. the planes are falling apart and the management is horrible. There is one manager there,Cody, Hes ok. These guys will not stand behind you if you tell a student something, like they are not ready to solo. then with the chinese program everything is on a time line and they get pissed if you fall a day behind.

Who knows when they willl expand wither. they have been talking about it for a year and a half. They are not dead set on rbd either last i heard. they were looking all over. they are talking about an airport without a tower to make it easier to solo students who can't speak english very good or at all, for that matter.

Robs, honestly man, you need to work on those grammar and sentence skills mate. That was a tough read, and I'm not ever part of the grammar police here.

I was going to post something along those lines, but then I'd be called a witch.
