If you are a "SENIOR Flight Instructor and Stage Check airman"... why are you trying to leave now, there is nothing out there. Enjoy your "cushy" job while you got it!

Wow, I'm curious about his situationt now.....CFI jobs don't really apply to me since I don't have it yet, but I'm thinking of checking out some flight jobs in the OKC area once I get in some more flight time and do some networking here (just moved here a few months ago from Arizona). Is the aviation market getting WORSE in Oklahoma?

I won't say where I work but his reasoning behind the mess is we have all these poor grads without jobs for the last year and he thinks they need a shot. It's not the brightest thing in the world but it's what he is going to do. Turns out only 3 of us will be laid off. All of us are over 800 dual given. The job market in oklahoma is pretty sparce for instructors. Okc has 2 flight schools. AirOne and Oklahoma aviation both at pwa but nieather are hireing. Then there are the college flight schools. Ou, osu, and se osu. I haven't found anything out there yet. I've been flying my students like crazy trying to get my 135 mins. I'm about there. Just 8 more hours of night flight and 20 more total time. But even then with the market I know I won't be competative. I guess we will see where the ball lands. As for now. Guess I'll get a masters degree haha.

| I don't think it was great to begin with. I left OK in 2006 for a job in FL. It's very difficult to find multi time in OK. There are still a few CFI jobs here in FL, but they are more difficult to find.

Pardon the interuption, Sooner, I am newly minted CFI (and coincidentally a south Floridian), would you mind passing on the name(s) of a few flight school(s)? I am running out of paper from all the resumes that I have submitted! Paul To the OP, Tailwheels (KGIF) is looking. |

Well I have had a couple hits but nothing has come to call yet. Thanks for the few that have pm'd me. I am still looking so if there is anything in any state out there with decent pay i'm game. If there is anyone who knows anything i'd appriciate it. I'm at 1400 hours total time now with a little over 850 hours of dual given. Thanks in advance for any leads.

I have to wonder if the CP's motivation is so he can proudly proclaim that his grads get jobs. To keep the 'pass rate' up as a PR gimmic when attracting new students.

You are correct to some extent. Allthough while I was employed there I was 10 for 12 on my pass rate in one year. I think he honestly just wants to be able to say that his grads get jobs. Allthough I think its kind of funny because he over hired and now he has quite a few instructors without one student.

A 141 flight school owner told me, in response to me saying he should pay his CFIs more, that he can't keep them out of the cockpit. So, I sez, that a guy should be hungry enough or love his job, that should be reason to pay him a lesser wage? This otherwise congenial man just glared at me. That's the game.

Found this quote on a fire house marquee, I found it fitting for the last post. It read something like... "If you love and enjoy your job so much why are you paid to do it?" Makes you think twice about bitchin'
