Best I recall I did two NDB approaches 'in anger' at FLX. But I was real glad they made sure I knew how on both occasions.

| Heh. Sho nuff! IIRC, the ILS was down, and for some reason the NDB actually gets you lower than the VOR there? Is that right? |

| I have fond memories of it simply because it was the site of many an impromptu airshow. I mean, by other people, obviously... |

I have found that any time Boris is in the area, there is some kind of "show" going on! |

| Who says NDBs can't have DME? I know of scads of airports with NDBs colocated with DME. Of course, I can't recall if I've ever seen an NDB-Arc, but if you have an RMI you could fly one super easy, or if you didn't you could just keep the station on the wingtip and fly left or right to keep it at however far out you want it. Good luck figuring out where the lead in radial is though.

Isn't everything easier with an RMI? Not to turn the good freight dog thread into IFR 101, but RMIs pretty much = fat kid with cake.

2 possibly silly questions: At Flight Express, is the pilot responsible for loading/unloading the cargo or are there people to take care of that? secondly.. re: MS FlightSim.. I've thought about getting it for some instrument brushup.. can that be run on a laptop easily? Need to get a joystick or something>? thanks! |

I almost certain that it's the pilot's responsibility to load/unload their own aircraft. As far as MS Flight Sim, I use it as an elementary training tool. It's one dimensional and provides entertainment. atp

You load it. Relax, it's like 1000lbs max and the planes are not that big. If you have trouble with that, you should be in a wheelchair, not a cockpit.

| Lots of good can come from MSFS. LOTS. Yep, you will need a joystick.

Any info on what runs may be available/how much they might pay for a possible Nov 30 class? Do the sim checks count as a bust on your PRIA or is that some kind of initial weeding out of people because they don't do interviews, correct?

I don't know which runs are available but I know that we are possibly looking for one pilot in CPS. Other places I don't totally know. Pay is for the most part standardized. $90/day or $12/hr for every duty hour after 7.5 hours on duty. The sim is part on an initial weeding process but I don't know about the PRIA act. Other people will be able to answer better about the sim.

| Junior Member | pay is as advertised. as far as runs, like what was said above, i think cps needs an extra guy, as does ads and oak. i think ads is already being taken by someone already at the company though.. all heresay. that's about all i know..

Has anyone received any more info beyond the "groundschool in Nov. 30th" e-mail that was sent out about 2 weeks ago? I have been trying to get ahold of Adam since I got the e-mail, and haven't heard back.
