Default Remote Pilot Operator

Has anyone applied and heard back from any of the 239084230423 positions Raytheon has been posting? I still have applications in for some of them as far back as the end of July, and haven't heard anything.

Are they hiring into some sort of pool for an upcoming contract? Again, just wondering if anyone has heard anything!

There were a few posts on stucmic.com about that. No one hears anything from them. Search on there, and Im sure you will find what you are looking for.

I heard back from them last week. Typical response: "we've reviewed your stuff and whatnot and your stuff isn't what we are looking for. We will keep you updated and let you know when your stuff becomes necessary." I have nearly 3000 hours, but no ATC time. That may be what they are looking for. Who knows.

When I was at Jax Center most of the RPOs were people who knew someone at the facility, friends of current RPOs, brothers and sisters of controller trainees, etc. Guess they have to extend it to the general public. Oh and for the record there is no flying involved in this job at all. All computer data entry more or less (hear ATC clearance, input clearance into computer so the blip on the screen does what the controller told you). Most of the RPOs I knew did not even have any or very limited piloting experience so those of us with 3000 hours of flight time may be considered as overqualified.

I'm an RPO. We have people ranging in experience from 0 aviation experience to 38,000 hour retired united captains. The breakdown here is something like:

No aviation or ATC experience - 1
Commercial/Multi/Instrument - 2
experienced CFI - 1
furloughed corporate/major FOs - 2
retired major captains - 4
retired air traffic controllers - 2

I think that encompasses all of us.

Periodically there are hiring freezes, not sure if there is one right now or not.

On MASH, the new rank that Radar was 'testing out' was Corporal Captain.

Just a little update, just talked to my site manager. We have over 50 applications for RPOs and 4 guys in the process of being hired (bout 3 months worth of paperwork in the process), only 4 openings at this time. They are hoping to get more openings but how many people we are allowed to hire is dictated by Raytheon (the primary contractor, we are a subcontractor) and the FAA.

I have a friend that just got picked up for an RPO position in Hawaii. From the sounds of it, it is a VERY SLOW process.

Haha, that's an understatement! I applied on 9/8/09, had my interview on 10/14 down at A80, submitted my eQIP about a week from there, got my approved DOT F (to get my security badge *once* hired) on 10/28, and I've been waiting ever since...the rayjobs website has my application currently listed as "interview." At least that's different that before...it started as "submitted" to "in review" to "interview."

But that's more progress that what I've read from most of the people who have applied. I just can't wait to get started!

I applied at the end of July. Haven't interviewed, haven't heard a peep from Raytheon since. It's as if I never applied.
