If you have a desire to become an ag pilot, it sounds like a very promising opportunity. The way the ad reads, they aren't blowing smoke up your rear either. The last paragraph spells it out plainly, mechanic first and then pilot. This is a good chance to learn the business first and then also be given the chance to fly. To me, that says a lot about the operator by putting that last paragraph in there. You will probably be doing some loader/grunt work also, but that's not a bad thing if you can get your foot in the door. This is getting to be an extremely hard part of aviation to break into. If you were looking to get into this, I'd answer the ad and go talk to them. Sounds pretty good to me. Good luck to you!

such a sweet side of aviation. I happen to be kind of a tree hugging organic man myself, so spraying chem is a little against what im going for (and i dont have the A&P ) but it would just be about the coolest way to fly.

im happy to debate this point, as a farmer myself and having grown up in orchards and having multiple ag major friends, produce workers and health nuts in my life, i can confidently say that across the board you are better off being around organic products than "conventional" or sythetic substances. I have heard of organic farms being hard to look at, but at the end of the day everything degrades. As i said, i would love to fly ag, but doing it in a smart way would certianly be my goal.

| Sorry for not getting right back to you, I had to take the wife and daughter to see the Hanna Montana movie. ![]() There's really only two realistic ways of getting in. One is going to an ag school and hopefully finding an operator willing to take a chance on you once you complete your training. The other way is to find an operator that will take you on as part of the ground crew doing the loading and other ground duties with the agreement that he will work you in to the flying job. Just like the job posting that you put on here without the A&P. As I said in the previous post, it is very difficult to get in to this, but it's not impossible. Good luck to you and any other questions just ask away.
