would it be helpful to take the "members only" jobs avail forum and make it a certain post count to view, such that you need at least 1 post or 5 posts to view?

I doubt it would help. Then some of the posts would end up being Eh, AH, or something else really short without any true insight or contribution to JC

I don't know if it would help... But I kind of like that idea. I'm not a member to APC but don't you have to have a certain amount of posts before you can PM? Kind of the same concept.

I haven't necessarily landed a job directly from a reference to this site, but the information on here has definitely brought my attention to many new opportunities that are out there. Some day if I ever need to find another job then I will be more educated on the type of places I can look for. APC is a great resource, but there are so many more companies that are not listed that are still good places (and bad) to work at.

My thoughts exactly.

Heck, that is how I started coming here, the jobs board.

I think it might be helpful, but honestly my only intent was to reward the membership with the jobs available as opposed to non-registered lurkers seeking work.

I'd be willing to bet we have at least 100 people in the active community who are either out of work, or will soon be out of work. The JC community is a tight one and I'd rather see someone from our community land a job from a post here than a non-registered lurker who is cherry picking the various aviation message boards for jobs and not contributing anything.

If my neighbor was out of work, and I knew of work, I wouldn't advertise it outside - I'd tell him directly so he has a better chance of securing future employment. Or at least that's my philosophy.

I have to post to this one.

I am a lurker and a thread killer.

I lurk a couple of forums.

It is not intentional. I usually find that by the time I read a post, someone has already voiced the opinion that I share. I am also not really into debating many topics.

I often search forums for answers before posting a question. This too results in not posting.

When I do post, I find that for some reason I kill a lot of threads. Maybe it is because people don't like to talk to lurkers?

I have found two jobs from this forum.

I also used this forum to choose a CFI program.

I do appreciate the community. I am just not very vocal.

Jim

Well, to me, you're more than just a lurker. You actually took the time to register almost two years ago to be a part of this community.

Glad you've found some use of the community as well, best of luck and stay safe.
