Wonder what special skills an FA for Janet needs to have? Tentacle removal techniques? Speak Alien fluently? Transporting ET's would probably be better and more civilized than your average commercial flight though - probably a higher class of passenger.

"Janet" is the callsign used by EG&G -- the contractor that flies US Military and defense department contractors from Las Vegas out to locations in Nevada and California like Tonopah, Palmdale, and....ahem....other locations in the Nevada desert. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janet_(airline) http://www.dreamlandresort.com/info/janet_fleet.html

This isn't your typical background check. They actually do check...EVERYTHING.

I had a reserve job lined up about 4 yrs ago that required a SSBI, but after almost 2 years of waiting for investigators to go overseas, I moved on. Apparently with the backlog, they couldnt be bothered having to go overseas. Besides all that second hand smoke in Holland probably qualifies me as a doper. | |

When I was getting my 737 last year some of the instuctors were ex-miiltary and said the TS background checks were about 40K if wanted to fly for Janet and you didn't have one. I also heard that they may be getting NG's in the near future and retiring the -200's |

Do you think with some clever freedom of information act request, one can actually figure out the actual name for Area 52?

| Yes, it's called "The Air Force's Operating Location Near Groom Lake, Nevada" in the Executive Orders that talk about it.

| Who cares? If they have flying saucers and aliens in there (doubtful), will find out in 50 years, no need to beat your head against a wall of red tape.

| I know it's just a place where they want to test some new aircraft without disturbances, I was just curious on the actual name of the place.
