I *THINK* you need 250 hours in your "weak hand" to be considered a dual-qual. Could be wrong, though. I'm hoping for both of us... it's just odd to me that they're still interviewing for non-existent spots. Unfortunately, I think it's more of the left hand not knowing what the right one is doing than massive expansion.

You need 250 hrs to even be viable as a RW pilot in the organization, otherwise you're gonna be used/viewed as FW. And the cost is up there. Plus, to then compete as an RW guy, you'd be going up against guys with a crap pile of RW time and experience.

Hi there, I just found this thread while browsing CBP.

I have been referred to the scheduling unit and my COE was in Feb 09. I was assigned MIA as an AIA FW only no EOD date yet though.

My question is, does anybody know if you go to your station before FLETC?

Also what happens after FLETC? I met some guys at flight safety and of course some of the people at OKC but somehow I forgot to ask this question.

Any info would be great thanks.

I know you EOD at your duty station before FLETC, although some choose to EOD at JAX right before to keep from dutying in at CA and then having to go to southern GA. After FLETC depends on where you're at and your training schedule. You may go to Artesia, NM for spanish, you may go to flight safety for aircraft training, or you may go back to your base for training there.

Clear as mud? ;-)

When did your BI clear?

I EODed 2 weeks at my branch prior to leaving for FLEA-TECH. I don't think they do the Jax thing as a matter of course anymore. I'd definitely go to your specific branch as there is a ton of HR paperwork to be done. If that paperwork gets screwed up it becomes very painful to fix. I'd rather have my MSS (HR person) handling it as they have a vested interest in getting it right the first time. That said, some things take time. Getting the service computation date correct that put me in the appropriate leave category took about 2 months, as predicted by my MSS. You are issued your gun @ FLETC now rather than having to drive to Jax.

Enjoy your rubber chicken and pray that you get housed off base.

I've always got a kick out of the locals calling it Flea-tech and us Feds calling it FLET-Cee.

We've got slots here in TUS that are going unfilled due to no funding available.

Now that hurts! I'd LOVE to be in TUS!

Well at least we'll all get to pay more taxes for 5 years so somebody can get "free" healthcare!
