Some of my friends that I attended flight school with started instructing there months ago, when it was a small operation acquiring Indian and Chinese contracts, and said it was a mess because they were growing so fast. Now things are coming to fruition and beginning to gel. I would highly recommend coming here for the following reasons: Good pay, you make your own schedule, and they are moving in a positive direction. In my opinion, it is a great place to instruct.
The had tons of Cirrus's on the way 2 years ago, then tons of Cessna's on the way last year also.

Old Dominion did the smart thing and visited. Cudos to him.

Priceless....
FWIW, the last time I did any flying at Air Safety was in December of 07 for my instrument checkride. I have no idea who's there or how messed up it is...if it even is messed up. I saw the new building down on I-10 and the Loop 101...pretty nice, good looking simulators...but of course, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

Check it out...make up your own mind...just be forewarned.

I figure they don't talk about Cessnas because everybody has Cessnas, but very few have a Cirrus. If I had a flight school and had 10 Seminoles and a couple King Airs to train in, I would talk all about the King Airs.

I believe there are 2 SR-20's onsite..down from the 6 or 7 or so when I got my PPL there in one of them. Mostly 152's / 172's. 2 Duchess' and 1 or 2 Seminoles....perhaps they got some more twins....

Anyone know what this article is all about? I heard they are only paying their CFI's 1/2 the pay rate until they get some more cash... sounds like crap to me...

Flight school takes holiday

Chinese clients fail to pay, causing cash-flow problem

Nov. 25, 2008 12:00 AM
The Arizona Republic
A flight school at Glendale Municipal Airport is taking "a long holiday" as it resolves a cash-flow shortage reportedly caused by lack of payments.
Air Safety Flight Academy, which employs 100 flight instructors and administrators, and teaches about 200 would-be pilots, is negotiating for $600,000 in payments from Chinese institutions, according to Peter Mountain, the academy's executive vice president.
"There is a cash-flow issue which we are busy overcoming as we speak," Mountain said Monday. The academy, which began operations five years ago, specializes in training international students, with about 80 percent of its business coming from Chinese airlines and universities. In an intense 12- to 13-month program, the school trains students as commercial- and airline-transport pilots.
Mountain said he expects the school to be back on course the first week of December.
"We are determined that we will not fail and we will honor with integrity our contracts," he said.

Well, here is what I know.
Air Safety was paying $40K a year salary, then it dropped to hourly. $20 an hour, and then the pay was cut to $14 an hour on average (30% pay cut) and then all the instructors got checks that were for minimum wage without notice.

This place has really gone down hill. A place to avoid at all cost.

Just wanted to second all of the warnings everyone has put out their about ASFA; don't work for them, don't fly with them, they are a terrible company!!! I know from first-hand, personal experience; the specifics have already been mentioned on this thread, and I can attest that they are all true. Meanwhile, their former employees are still waiting for paychecks from time worked back in November...
