Free flight training

Howdy,

I actually wanted to go and visit this in NYC but i missed out.

I have zero flying experience and wanted to pursue this cadet program as my new career...I applied online but havne't been called yet

can someone please suggest a route to contact them ? I sent a follow up email, but i got an undeliverable email.

Contact them at cadetpilot@etihad.ae ...I think that's it. There will be more assessments next year, but as far as this year is concerned only South Africa and Australia are left.

Don't quote me on it but I was just surfing the site and looking at positions there and when you log into the careers section there is a update option for what I was acessing.

The 2009 screening dates are out. Etihad will be conducting initial assessments in London (February), Frankfurt (March), Johannesburg (May), Sydney (June), Abu Dhabi (july ), Canada (August), USA (August), and Singapore (September). To apply simply send an email to cadetpilot@etihad.ae stating your preferred assessment location. Application will be accepted up to the first day of the month before assessments.

Eligibility:

Age between 18 and 26
Medically Fit to fly
Accredited secondary school diploma or higher with proven pass grades in Physics, Math, and English
CPL or ATPL holders will not be considered

Why would you fellas want to put yourselfs in this situation when you can just join military aviation. It seems that most of you all have no problem making a commitment for almost a DECADE to a foreign country when you can make the same commitment to the US Armed Forces for less and still get the same training, plus you get to live in the UNITED STATES.

Don't get me wrong, this is a good opportunity, but being obligated for 8 YEARS is an awful long time to give to a middle eastern nation most of you know nothing about. What if you fellas get yourselves into this situation and it dosen't pan out for you. I'm very sure that this company is just not going to let you go home after spending so much money in your training just because your home sick or have a problem adjusting to the culture.

I'm not judging anyone who is considering this, I just would like know why some of you would go overseas to pursue something that you could get here in the USA and get bonus money in the military. Obviously most of you have no problem making a long term commitment to doing something as exciting as aviation. I'm not a recruiter either!

i couldnt agree more with you , but joining the Air force has its own downside and there is no guarantee that you would live in the United states with all whats going on in the world , and it is a risk one is willing to take ,and this is all another topic involving a lot of factors and consequences and believe me i know what im talking about since i deal with Air Force pilots in a daily basis
i cant tell you more about this unless i read the contract , but a lot of other companies have done this and it worked out for everyone who joined (DAH, KZW...ect)
and if you are worried about signing the contract , there are many ways to break it , and in most cases , it is better than signing your life away to a bank and start your career with a debt that will almost never end ,
so unless you are a Rockefeller , training in the Us has become real tough (i'm talking money wise) and even if you make it, you will have to start all the way from the bottom , and from what i hear , regional pilots sleep inside the cabin and start with 18K a year which is ridiculous ( u make more as a bartender) ,in the other hand , you got these forlks in the middle east , paying for your training , your living expenses , your child's school ...ect, think about it , its too good to be true , but it is real

Maybe it's the beer talking but can't you just tell them you don't have a CPL? Just a thought, will they check on FAA.gov? I know guys who are quitting 737 jobs in India for CRJ jobs here just so that they can fly in the U.S again and not deal with the foreign BS. Think about it long and hard.....

i was on the phone last night with some kind of training guy at ettihad's flight academy , basically he was saying that you have to pass the first assessment, then there will be a second one (a bit harder ) then pass the medical exam to be admitted in the cadets program
i asked him about the age requirement , he said if you are over 26 forget it because of the amount of applications they receive everyday , so they wanted to limit it somehow
anyway , he also said , there are other ways to join , and one of them is go apply in person, but if it is worth it or not to disburse at least 3 or 4 grands for the trip, im not sure about !

i wish it was the case
we are just like you , trying to find jobs or trying to post jobs here for the people who are interested
i heard Air india is hiring pilots, why dont you try them?
otherwise, go to ettihad.com and log on into their careers website you will find more informations about the credentials they are looking for
