As opposed to an unrealistic, no-way you are going qualify bonus plan? Inquiring minds would like to know if there is a back story here.

The reason it is acheviable is simply that, it is very easy for the instructors to get the bonus. No back story, they do not have to jump through rings of fire to get the bonuses...I have seen other bonus programs that are very difficult to consitantly acheive on a month to month basis, this one they can get every month.
hope that helps.

It is amazing what CFIs can earn today, and it is about time. I can remember earning $7.25 an hour...

We also have jobs available at our satellites facilities as well...

Houston TX, Jacksonville FL, Broward FL...

Contact with any Questions.

Hi,
I sent you a PM, but wanted to make sure you got your answers here as well,

yes we would be happy to hire a brand new CFI, and we have apartment complexes within 4 miles, some even have a company shuttle.

Thanks
Paul

Hey Lomax-

Did anyone at DCA ever talk to you about the bad history between DCA and Jetcareers?

A couple of years ago, Shawn Raker, who was the VP of business development went after my job because he didn't like some of the things that my users had to say about DCA. Mr. Raker is now with CAPT in Florida.

Turns out that I wasn't liable and he was released, but DCA never officially apologized for threatening my employment or the strife they put me and my wife through during those days.

In light of our history, I think the thread is somewhat interesting that even though they pressed for me to shut down the entire website, now they're using us to recruit employees.

DCA JAX needs to get on its horse and do a better job of keeping students to become instructors. In the past few months we've hired four DCA fliers as instructors making our total six. Had DCA been able to keep them the current crop of students wouldn't be dealing with a crippling instructor shortage. In my humble opinion the best way to fix that problem is to change out the guy at the top, the air is acrid over there.

Hi Doug,
I have heard of some of the history you speak of, and I obviously can not speak for Mr. Reker not only because I do not know him or what he did. I have no desire to continue down a road that would create any more bad blood, so I will be the first to apologize for anyone attacking you personally for your views or opinions, or causing you and your family and problems. I did some of my own research and I do not like what happened. I hope you can realize that it is a new world over here at Delta Connection Academy. We have a lot of great people working here and we are all dedicated to creating a profesional atmosphere...not creating drama and strife.
My job is to simply try and find the best flight instructors available and offer them a job.

Thanks
Paul

I am working very hard to get as many instructors as I can, the problem is everywhere...with Instructors going to the airlines at a rate faster than they are created, flight schools across the country are struggling to find the staff to get the job done and done right...

it really wasn't his view, it was more of the members views.. for some reason, DCA thought it was doug's position to censor "talk" and that's not how we play here (unless it goes against our main rules up top).

I think my question is how much have things changed there...what people have changed there and/or how are things "different" from *last time*? When Mr Raker tried to bite the hand that feeds, everyone there was *new* at that time as well. How do we know that if we allow DCA back on site, that we won't get bit again for letting people speak about the flight school for themselves (good, bad, ugly)? I'd like to give you the benefit of a doubt but my risk tolerance for your flight school is quite high, i'm afraid.

I think they have changed in a big way...I know that is easy to say and hard to prove. We have a number of new people in key roles, from president to middle managers, and from my dealing with them, they all want the same thing...Happy students and Happy instructors. My position was created to not only find instructors but to talk to the students and people that work here and find out what they need, to have a better quality of life. I will not let anyone interfere with that communication, it is vital that I hear the good the bad and the ugly, otherwise I will be unable to perform my job...

I hope that helps, but I also understand if it does not.
Paul

Paul - thanks for answering my questions on Friday. Looking forward to retirement next year (April) and taking the next step. I've been busy completing my instrument / commercial thru the Navy Academy flight school in Maryland and plan on getting my initial CFI thru them this summer and fall. The prices are too good to pass up...<grin>

Thanks again and I'll be in touch..

Wow, instructors were making $10/hr when I trained at DCA. It was a good school and it taught me well, but I left after CFII because the higher ups were...not nice... and the pay was laughable.

Soon after I left, most of the people I didn't like got fired and now they've raised the pay.

The city of Sanford is a dump, but the airport is pretty nice (4 runways, all good length and condition, two tower frequencies so it's never too congested) as are DCA's facilities. If I wasn't closing in on an airline I'd consider applying.

Do they still do that thing where if you do one thing wrong on the Standz flight, or fail to memorize the emergency checklist down to the capitalization, or score lower than a 90% on one of seven standz written tests, you're out of a job?
