| Daniel Webster College in Nashua, N.H., is looking for flight instructors. Sound familiar? Yes, except for one thing: The college has apparently decided not to rely on newly graduated time-builders and is going all-out to recruit what it calls "career" flight instructors. In a news release, the college said it is offering incentives targeted toward career flight instructors, including bonuses for such things as master CFI certification, professional development, and glider instructor certification. Other sweeteners include base pay plus block pay and the ability to choose a three-, four-, or five-day work schedule. Interested candidates can visit the college's employment page, send an e-mail, or call the CFI recruiter at 603/577-6402. |

| Old Skool | Good find! Checked out their page and I qualify to apply as the assistant chief. Wonder what that pays? For the instructor pay is has steps 1 through 4, and talks about CFI (one "I"s) getting in house training to work their way up to the multis. I assume some one with all the ratings already would start out at max pay? BTW, who thought of operating a flight school in the North East? ![]() |

| From what I understand they're going all out to keep instructors. I should probably look at the page too to see if I could do the asst. chief position. Don't think I'm quite ready to get back into the 141 environment though, |

| Plus you can go to school for free. I know a CFI there and he is working on his MBA and BS in Aviation MGT for FREE.

That's a negative. (unless that has changed, too, but I highly doubt it) Those pay scales are for regular instructors, you get hired at "Entry Level" and move up the levels as you get standardized for additional teaching. (CFI-G, CFII, MEI). They pay for all of that training if you don't have the ratings yet. If you already have the ratings you still have to go through the "course," but obviously won't have to do the checkrides. How fast you can move through to Level 3 depends on how much time you and your Level 4 (they do mostly upgrade training) have to devote to it. Becoming Level 4 is based on need and an additional "application/interview" process. Assistant chiefs are considered Level 5. | |

| Never mind... found the scale... So I'm considering applying for this. Questions... What are the "Blocks" and how many are in a typical pay period? I've always thought I'd love to be a career Flight Instructor, heck I've been doing it for 8 years part time... Might as well try to do it full time. Anyone know what the area is like?

| Applied, interviewed, got the job*! ![]() (*Just have to do the background check to be official.) Hired to start in August for the fall semester. That's good. Gives me time to get my affairs in order here in SC and to save up some money. I'm thinking the beginning salary is going to be a culture shock for me after 15 years in the Navy and having a very well paying (although the crappiest job ever) job for the last year... BUT, I can finally enjoy going to work!!! ![]() Time to start planning a move!

| That's what I'm planning... I think DWC has put together a nice program to make it a good place to spend a career. The only thing that would take me away would be a really sweet corporate job, like part of the PGA airforce or something like that...
