I spent a year at Flight Express, flying all over Florida. What a great experience. That makes a real pilot out of you. These days I am flying an airliner out of Tampa. Once in a while I get to taxi past the FLX hanger, on the rare days when we take off from runway 27. I always point it out to my First Officer, and tell him/her that those are "real" airplanes, flown by "real" pilots! I still hear Sixtoe R. on the radio sometimes, flying into Tallahassee. Anyone else here know him? |

Michigan: I never had the pleasure of meeting Sixtoe, but lord knows I've heard enough about him. Seems like every courier I met when I was TDY'd down south would have a Sixtoe story. See kids, FLX could make you a legend!

Sixto is the man, unfortunately he is leaving FLX to go fly lear's down in South Florida pretty soon. He's as steady as they come! Mark |

You know if you really want to flatter me, you're going to have to call back when we all get really drunk and decide to call you at 1am. We know you're based in STL. Next time we're just going to drink till the sun comes up (ok we do that anyway) and go to Lambert and FIND YOU. I think I still have the CHQ directions to the pilot lounge. Our freedom and continued employment is in YOUR HANDS. Pick up the phone, there may not be a Tomorrow. | |

Reerun: last I heard they were still firm on the IFR mins. However, you (might) have the advantage of living in KC, where they have a lot of trouble filling spots, traditionally (I have no idea why). It's NEVER a bad idea to give Gary "Silvertongue" Hillyer a call. The worst thing he can say is "call me back in 6 months" and you'll have had the chance to speak to a living legend. 1-800-OPS-KORL ext. 613

Do they have a hard time keeping pilots on the Lit run? Are they subbing that run out to another company? I think it leaves Lit around 2;30 to Jbr then to Cps. Comes back around 5;00am.

t-cart: When I was there (flying out of CPS), yes, they did have trouble with LIT. Don't know whether that's still the case. At one point there was a guy living in the FBO down there (don't know how they managed that one). Whatever the case, again, it doesn't hurt to ask...

It's funny because apartment complexes normally have a weight max for dogs, generally 25 lbs. But the small dogs are the ones that bark and poop/pee in the apartment. Big dogs know better. [/rant]

| Senior Member | No kidding. My wife and I must have looked at at least a dozen apartments before we found one that would accept our black lab. Hardly ever hear a peep out of her, but everywhere we have lived, the little dogs yapped day and night.

Is this company still hiring? I'm considering quitting my current job and going here. I've got just a hair over 1200 and about 200 multi. It seems as of the past few months, there has been a few furloghs/layoffs around the industry, I'm just curious if this has effected flight express as well.

nbv4: I don't think we're anywhere near the level of bad where FLX isn't hiring. Call and ask. 800OPSKORL ext. 613. Great job, provided you know what you're getting in to.

So why would someone have to live in the FBO? Is the schedule that bad or low pay?

No one has ever had to live in the FBO. Think about it.

He lived in the FBO because he's the kind of guy who would, is the best way I can explain it. Schedules vary wildly. Some of them are fun, some less so. Money is actually one of the best (maybe the best) in the market segment. The pay structure rewards in particular those who don't mind long days (which does not necessarily indicate lots of "work").
