| Old Skool | Hey guys and gals, I wanted to pass along the word that Open Air is looking for pilots. Open Air is a Part 135 carrier currently operating 6 Cirrus SR-22s. They are a relativily new company based in the Washington DC metropolitan area. I believe there are plans to expand, possibly with PC-12s and the Cirrus Jet. I am not sure on work rules, pay, benefits, etc, but the company seems very legitimate and very professional. The two pilots I have talked to seem very happy flying for them. FAQ can be found at this link: http://flyopenair.com/faq.htm For career information: Quote:

| yup- solid company and great individuals who are really dedicated to getting things rolling . I was suprised to see how fast their interest took hold here in DC. I have referred pilots to them and they are generating a lot of flights and I know, have flown and work with the directors personally if you want me to help network. (p.s. from what I can see, the company is well-financed)

| 135 mins are a good place to start but I'll check w/ the President and get more info. Getting Cirrus certified is another checkbox J

| J, I'd be interested in their mins. I am Cirrus "standardized" good until July 08. When you speak with them ask if they have any plans on moving South towards CLT. Thanks

I am waiting to hear back from the President on other possibibilties to expand, so far it looks like the next plane is going to Long Island next summer. Currently there is a plane based at UKT (Quakertown, PA- South of Lehigh) and the rest are at GAI (Gaithersburg, MD- Washington DC area). I will let you know when I hear back from him.

| I have a corporate gig - part 91- that requires either a "CISP" instructor or a pilot who has received "standardization" training from a "CISP" Instructor. Standardization training takes three days and you receive a certificate suitable for framing . When your done with the training, you receive a logbook endorsement stating that you received an IPC ride in a Cirrus Sr-22. It is good for one calendar year. This was an insurance requirement when I accepted the corporate gig and it helps when I fill in for other Cirrus pilots in my area as you are entered into a database of some sort. ![]()
