Default Lynx Air

Anyone know anything about these guys? I dunno, any company that wants you to pay for some of your training seems like a bad idea.

The flying looks interesting. There's even an overnight trip to Guantanamo Bay.

As far as the training contract goes, they reimburse you over 12 months. Which I agree is a little wierd but not much different than signing a training contract.

Do you know what a scab is?

I thank god I am not one of them and I do anything not to be one.

Once you are listed as a scab you are a scab for life. Always looking behind your back even when you need to commute to work. Not a good way to start a long career.

It’s sad that they will sucker the unknowing into this type of operation.

Might be a dumb question, but what is the def. of a scab. Just curious.

Is there a web site where you can find more info on this PFT.

True may not 100% scabbing but anything that devalues this industry or exploits its labor is treated the same.

Let’s back up here and examine this company. First off it’s a new start up with plenty of risks. Why should new hires have to contribute (pay) into those risks? They are making money off your work so let them pay for the training. Second labor contract. Any place that makes you commit to a labor contract most likely is poorly managed. They use this to prevent the revolving door turning too fast when pilots have choices of companies to work for and realize they made a mistake in choosing this company. I don’t see too many other companies hiring metro pilots. Third location. Florida is a “right to work” or “right to fire” state with no support from the state in dealing with unwarranted firings. On the flip side labor attorneys make a good living in that state since it is plagued with rouge mismanaged companies.

I won't argue with you about devaluing the industry, no doubts there. It is not scabbing though.

The first 135, 91, 121 job should not have to 'suck' per se, but there is nothing wrong with earning ones position in this career through a little sacrifice, sweat and hard work.

SeanD

Just set your goals a little higher to work for a company that pays you instead of you paying them.

Agree, I could have left instructing much earlier for the first 121 op that came around but I decided to hold out for something better.

Now I fly modern well maintained aircraft in a part of the country I could only dream about doing as my first 121 gig with a great quality of life and pay.

Keeping in contact with many who opt out for the first 121 that came around, well, they are starting back at square one with better organizations.

For the life of me I could not remember that “rip off place” last night…

Same bunch of people who ran ATA Academy ran TAB. I hear they had problems getting their 121 authorization from the feds, so they had to close doors.

Does anyone remember when some of the top regionals made you pay for training?

I know that even XJT used to make you pay back in the day...
