I would LOVE to do this. Saw a similar posting for a cessna job flying their singles and the mustang. What a way to combine an engineering background and a passion for GA.

At least with Mooney it will be in Kerrville Tx (about 45 minutes to San Antonio). There are also freelance instructing opportunities close by.

Serious question - why buy a Mooney when you can get a LancAir or Columbia?

| I love my Mooney, they are such sweet aircraft. I've never flown the other two but have seen tons of them, nothing short of a P-51 is as sexy as a Mooney.

i work closely with the mooney factory and know the two guys who currently hold this position. it is a good job; lots of hours, good equipment, minimal travel. i would not hesitate to apply if i was in the market.

M20TN > COL4. M20TN is faster at intermediate altitudes that are utilized more often. M20TN has less hp, which means it burns less fuel. M20TN is certified for known icing. M20TN air conditioner gives a speed hit of about 2kts, whereas a COL4 with A/C has trouble getting past 225KTAS on the top end. M20R > COL3 as well. The M20 airframe has much more room in the back seat and the cockpit is more traditionalist, which i like.

| Ask a Mooney owner what speed mods he has... It'll keep them talking for hours and when you add up all the speed gains they claim the airplane pushes 350kts.

| My Mooney has every speed mod except for the 201 windscreen so I guess that makes me one of those owners. If you think those mods don't make a difference you're sadly mistaken. I talk speed with bonanza pilots and gas with 150 pilots.

Never been in a Mooney, been wanting to fly one, I hear they are great single engine aircraft!

| I think its cool how much speed you can squeeze out of that airframe. I loved flying the A36 with 300hp but if I was putting fuel in the tanks it would be painful.

Don't get me wrong, I love flying Bonanzas, they're great aircraft. Especially when I'm not paying for the motion lotion.
