Position Purpose:
Flight Safety’s purpose is to reduce the risk associated with conducting flight operations. The manager’s role will focus on conducting flight safety investigations, as well as coordination of other internal & external customers. The Manager will act as the NWA Accident Investigation Site Lead and will serve as an assistant to the NTSB and NWA investigators. Act as a liaison between the field investigators and the NWA Party Coordinator. Responsible to maintain the Accident Investigation Go Team Manual. Leader in development and responsible to manage flight safety investigations internal to NWA. Responsible for All database software configurations for Flight Safety. Tracks investigation corrective actions. Coordinates with Corporate QA for all interdepartmental investigations. Serves as NASAP Administrator alternate

Position Specific Requirements:

• 4 year degree in aviation management or related discipline.
• 3-5 years of investigation of aviation incidents and accidents.
• Background should include safety investigative experience and working knowledge of airline operations.
• Previous leadership of people experience is preferred.
• Experience with accident investigation procedures required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Knowledge of operational risk assessment & safety factor analysis.
• Knowledge of FARS.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written/verbal forms to various levels of the organization.
• Ability to travel to NWA locations.
• Ability to professionally represent NWA to internal/external entities.
• Ability to conduct investigations, root cause analysis & report results in a clear and concise written manner.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Word processing, spreadsheet skills
• FDR analysis and animation.
