Flight and ground instructors needed for ab-initio flight training for foreign airlines in Stockton CA. Similar to the opportunity at Sierra Academy Position Information Job Title: Ground Instructor/Flight Instructor (AGI/CFI/CFII/MEI) Requirements: Ground Instructor with AGI, and/or Flight Instructor with CFI or CFII or MEI. Job Description: Ground Instructor conducts group ground classes using established training guidelines. Flight Instructor conducts private/instrument/multi-commercial training for ab initio courses. Instructor will have 3-4 international students from airlines and can expect to earn 80-100 hours per month. Most IFR training is conducted by SR-20. There is a min 3 months commitment and preferably 10 month to one year commitment. 2 week notice is requested should an employee find it necessary to leave the school. Job Location: Stockton, California (Near San Francisco Bay Area) Number of Openings: 45 flight instructors, 7 Ground instructors Salary: $18/hour~$30/hour Benefits: Furnished housing $250/month. Use of airplane at staff rate. Web site: www.jcairacademy.com Continuously accepting resumes I'm not directly involved with this company but I know the people who are. The company was founded by the former chief instructor of Sierra Academy in Atwater, CA. I think this opportunity may be better than Sierra. The pay might not be quite as good, but they promise better management, better aircraft, and better maintenance. Free housing for up to 2 nights will be provided in Stockton for an interview. Airfare and re-location expenses are on your own, but I'm told that at least for the time being, anyone who shows up for an interview will be given a contitional offer of employment, contingent upon passing standardization. Anyone interrested send me an email melin.eric@gmail.com, and I'll forward it on to them.

Ed's giving John Yoon a run for his money, eh? Good for him! ![]() Knowing the CEO, I can say this would be a good opportunity. Go for it, whoever's interested. Stockton can handle the traffic. Not to worry.

I'm currently at Sierra Castle, this does sound like a great opportunity. Ed is a great guy, the majority of instructors at Castle miss him...myself included. I'd like to know when the students arrive up there, and what the housing situation is like.....Eric are you out of training yet? On reserve?

Yeah, I just finnished IOE last week. I'm bassed at ORD and we're so short-handed out there I'm already holing a line. There is no reserve out there. Crew sceduling does have me on reserve between trips though. The joys of being junior. I think its their way of letting me know I'll be junior manned, and also their way of making it mandatory. It's all good though. Its still a great company to work for.

| Yet to be determined, but they have to compete with Sierra who is apparenly renting the Semiole for $140 wet to their instructors.

140 wet applies only to the Seminoles they own. It was done to help the Instructors who don't have their MEI's get the 5 hrs they needed of PIC time, at a reduced rate. They give us 10 hrs of standz time free split between the Duchess and Seminole, add that with the 5 and there's your 15 PIC for the MEI checkride.

What kind of planes do they fly? 152's? 172's? PA-28's? And how is the free housing? Is it shared, or do you get your own place? This place seems like a way better deal than Sierra for at least one big reason: the location. Atwater is in the middle of nowhere. Stockton is right there in the middle of Manteca, Modesto, Sacramento, as well as a lot closer to the Bay. |

I know they will be doing at least some instrument training in the Cirrus, and I know they have some R model 172s which I assume they will be using for both Private and Instrument. I think they are still trying to work out leasing agrements for aircraft and are not certain exactly what they will be using, but they are interrested in using nicer late-model aircraft. NO ALARUSES!! The housing is not free. It is $250 per month and is shared with one other instructor. I'm not sure if theat means 2 instructors share a two bedroom apartment, or if two instructors share a bedroom, but I can ask. I did ask if it was an option to pay more for a place of your own, but they don't have enough appartments available to offer that to everyone, so no.

| It's kind of luck of the draw now. Depends on when you interview and what classes are comming up. It seems they are trying to give CFIs the Bro if there happens to be both a Bro class and a CRJ class comming up, but mostly just what's comming up next. In my case I had a CRJ class 3 weeks from my interview and a Bro class 7 weeks away, so I got the jet. I think I did do pretty well on my interveiw though and that may have had someting to do with it. There were a couple CFIs that interviewed just a couple days after me that got the Bro. Bro fleet is dwindling, and jet fleet is growing. That means more jobs available for the CRJ.

Their hiring process is a bit bizarre: Process for the hire: 1. Submit resume 2. Review resume 3. Hired and contract for 3 month probation time.(No interview) 4. Assign student (But, before standardization finished, teach ground lesson only. No flight lesson before standardization.) 5. Initial Standardization(free ground and 5 hrs dual flight). During Standardization, Chief instructor will interview and do check flight if needed. 6. If pass standardization, he/she can conduct flight lesson. |

Other than no interview, it seems pretty normal to me.

- to reduce hassle of long trip only for interview. JC will try to pick up qualified instructor with examining resume. - to maintain quality of training. JC Air Academy's flight training will conducted based on established SOP. So, every instructor need to pass standardization course (ground & 5 hrs flight in free. no charge) JC expect almost instructor will pass that standardization as long as he/she has proper ability of his/her license. Even though fail to pass that, could have chance to retry. Anyway, at lease, he/she would get 5 hrs flight time. | |
