Falcon Aviation Academy which operates out of 4 locations in the greater Atlanta area is in need of 15-20 CFI's in the next 30 days. We are expanding our international market (Primarily students from India) while simultaneously supporting a regional airline (ASA) with their need for pilots. We offer health benefits, good pay, subsidized living accomodations (some locations) and a inside track to ASA after 6-8 months of employment with us as a CFI. CFII and MEI preferred but we will work with you on obtaining same either through reduced cost or 12 month timeframe committment as CFI with us. Please email us at: Jobs@falconaviationacademy.com |

If anyone is interested, and wants a clean environment to work (that's NOT Florida). . .I'd highly suggest applying.

Dude, those comments were uncalled for. We probably have a lot of Indian students lurking on this site looking for information on flight schools and your imaturity and ignorance is not going to help anyone. You might want to try and keep those kind of comments to yourself and try growing up a little!

What is a average billable month? How much of the teaching is multi? What are your pay rates for flight and ground and how is the schedule? Thanks, Eric |

Students are charged $40 an hour for an instructor, flight or ground. How much of that an instructor actually sees is well. . .to be determined by the instructors pay rate. Multi teaching comes with seniority, but I am one of about 5 full time CMEL students, plus how ever many Indian students are also working on their MEL. If you are truly interested - call them up. If you want to speak with a few of the CFIs, PM and I'll see if I can either have mine, or one of the many I have flown with talk to you.

| Old Skool | How is the DA42 flying? I am still trying to find a place for my CMEL.

| Oh you guys need to get off your high horse. It's a joke people. Ever heard one of those before? Not politically correct, oh well. Laugh a little. This isn't a formal business dinner.

I am really amazed when I see these threads about CFI's for aviation academies. Where I live, most (almost all) CFI's are independent contractors. If students are charged $35 an hour, instructors make $35 an hour (they only have to pay monthly dues to the flight school). I remember when my original flight school in Colorado was bought out, the flight instructors went from making $35 an hour to $27 an hour, and I was shocked!! The rates I am seeing from these aviation academies are outrageously low. Just another reason not to train or work at a large aviation academy!

It does go up, but starting pay is way low. (Please don't think I am trying to justify the low pay.) I think you can top out at $20/hour. Things may have changed, but I doubt it. Back in January 2002 starting pay was $14. Then you got a $2.00 raise for II, and MEI. I can't remember when they dropped it down to $12. I do know that starting pay as of last March was only $12/hour. BTW, Falcon is not a large aviation academy. Its actually a very small school. The instructors do get the added benefit of wearing the monkey suit... (Another major flaw)

As I understand it, pay starts @ $12. $2 increase for every Wings Program that you complete, along with each upgrade to II, or MEI. So, say you do 3 Wings programs, that's an extra $6 hourly wage - so now you're @ $18 dollars. Say you finally become an MEI, so another $2, so $20 hourly now. I personally think, that. . .pay, CFI pay, will gradually increase over the next few months to a year. All of these academies that cater to international students are going to have to find a way to keep their American instructors to stay just a little bit longer. Pay greater than first year FO @ a regional is one way. Just my opinion, and certainly does not reflect what I think Falcon will do in the future. |

The more guys that go to the Regionals, the less instructors. The less instructors, the higher instructor pay will go. The higher instructor pay gets, the more expensive it will be to learn to fly. The more expensive it is to learn to fly, the fewer the number of pilots available for the airlines. The fewer pilots available for the airlines, the higher the pay will have to go. It's all good.
