In addition to paying our trainees their 72-hour monthly guarantee and per diem while in training, PSA provides hotel accommodations. PSA Airlines, Inc. offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical/dental, 401(k) and flight benefits on all US Airways flights. To be considered, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications: Commercial, Instrument and Multi-engine rating First Class Medical FCC License Valid Passport For current Pilot openings, please check the Current Openings Page. Current Information as of 4/11/2007 I think Airlinepilotcentral.com needs to update there company profile! Am I reading this correctly that no hour mins are required? I am waiting on results from Piedmont and Mesaba. Take Care |

Eh... Not a typo. We are pretty short over hear and with no growth, below average pay and a long upgrade I guess this is the next step for management. Figure at least 250 hours for the CMEL. Yeah. I can't wait to upgrade and start flight instructing again.

That's all well and good, but the environment in a regional (at least here) doesn't support that anymore. The company is so short and thinks so highly (in this sense) of their captains that they won't do much about it. Pro Standz is mostly an empty threat here that can't do anything more then talk to the person about the issue. Once somebody is hired they pretty much have to bend metal to be fired. And unfortunately, and FO bending metal (even if they have a history of incompetent's due to low time) is going to take the captain out with them. There was an FO here who almost every CA they flew with complained about. Very nice person but not a very good pilot. They got where they did for other reasons mostly. I was one of the only FOs at the company to actually fly with them as I did a differences sim with them. It was pretty scary to say the least. Multiple captains complained and eventually after one called in sick so he wouldn't have to fly with them they were taken off line and given some training. After a few sim sessions and a check out they were sent back to the line. Things improved a bit but over all their skills were still well below what they needed to be. They have since left to go fly at another regional in slightly bigger equipment. So the moral of the story is the flying CA has three options in a situation like this. They can call off the trip. They can fly the plane single pilot and just take the plane from the FO every time there is a problem. Or they can be a flight instructor and hope the FO gets better with some flight time. Sometimes the right thing isn't the path of least resistance.

What about 141 people who have less than 250TT with the commercial/inst/multi ticket? Such as around 180TT? Will those people be considered like 250TT Part 61 people? Do you have better chances of getting hired at PSA with FMS training/121 experience/Jet Ground School under your belt?

I forgot about the 141 stuff. It doesn't say anything about times. Just the CMEL. I wouldn't waste any money on "extra" training courses. But that's just me. |
