As I understand it they just lowered captain pay to $30.50 an hour, which is crap for captain on a 1900D.

We pay $43,000 a year for 1900 captains, and we don't have to haul any people.

Do either jobs (AMF/Big Sky) offer per diem? Sorry, I'm just completely ignorant...

J, what do you want to end up in (airframe-wise) at your employer?

We're don't do trips like airlines do, so you're in your own bed every night so hence, no per diem.

I'd like to end up...I dunno, somewhere. Metro or 1900? No clue as of yet. It'll be a little while before I'm there

Enjoy all that delicious West Coast fast food while you wait (In-n-Out, Del Taco)... jerk. I'm just trying to live out my time on RSV with Chik-Filet, haha.

What does $30.50 per hour equal to per year - cause on a 70 hour per month you are looking at $25,000 - IS THAT RIGHT?

I recently did a few legs in the NE without an APU. Holy crap is it cold up there this time of year. Every now and then you see postings for 1900 Capts from various companies (Big Sky was one, Air Midwest another) and I have to say my hat is off to you if you can hold that job for the 1.5 - 2 years needed to build up the PIC. You certainly deserve to get to a higher rung on the ladder faster doing that job. I've gone soft.

I looked into this, I found some people who are at Big Sky and they didn't have the greatest things to say. It's PIC time, but good luck living in BOS on that kind of money!

I guess if you already live in BOS on less than that, it can't get much worse!

They lowered captain pay? And they somehow thought resumes were just going to start uhh flying in? Sheesh!

A 1900D captain is certainly worth more than $30K/year. It's basically a larger King Air 200 and I think that pays a considerably more on the corporate side.

Corporate Challenger FO's in my area start in the $55k-$60k range. I think Corporate almost always pays more, but there's a reason for it.

A better indication might be to compare to to "industry average" 121 1900 pay, which sadly is what it is!!!

CommutAir - $30/hr
Colgan - $32/hr
Great Lakes - $26/hr
Gulfstream - $32/hr
--------------------
Average = $30/hr

Thank you for those words

The captains have it easy. Imagine being the FO having to stand outside the plane in the Northeast weather 12-15 times a day making sure the passengers don't trip going up and down the 'airstair door'.

Within six months there will be NO more 19hondos at my company.

Seggy, does this mean CJC will let you transition to the 340 as CA?

That is what SHOULD be done if my seniority would allow me to hold a captain position on the Saab.
