There is also scenic flights in the summer that need to be flown.

It's a fairly new operation, but the only place renting or giving instruction on the field.

Summer is the busy season, probably flying 5 hours plus per day (including scenics). Now is a lot slower, but the second ground school class just started and most of them haven't flown yet.

If the CFI was full time there may be a base pay involved to do "office work" i.e. answer the phone, write out invoices, and monitor lasergrade tests etc.

CFII would be a plus, but certainly not required.

The rental fleet is currently a 172 and a 150. 2 more 172's should be operated durring the summer (mostly for scenics) with the possibility of another 150 oining the fleet shortly.

how's the cost of living up there? Would you say that $20 an hour would be livable up there?

I'd look into getting a place in Ellsworth. Its the "city" just nort of Trenton, and about 15-20 minutes from the airport. A decent 1 bedroom could be had for about 450/month. COL is not too bad for the Northeast, as always the closer to the water you get the more expensive it will be. The airport is right on the coast. A place in Trenton or on "the island" will set you back at least 550/month with no roommates.

I spent every summer from when I was six until I started college in Southwest Harbor. That area is the nicest in the country in my opinion. Always been a dream of mine to fly in and around there.

I instructed out of BHB for about four years (up until about a year ago). I could only make it work as a part time deal. Summer can certainly be full time, but students thin out to almost nil in the winter. Not a place I would recommend moving to just for the flying.

Anyone looking at BHB feel free to PM me for more info.

The offer is still there. Full time or PT. We need a CFI.
