They're in there under "qualifications."

1500 TT
250PIC
75 "NIGHT/INSTRUMENT"

Probably nixed the 500 ME requirement since acquiring PC-12's.

I'd encourage you to apply!!!! Be prepared for a 16-24 month hiring timeline... the G is NOTORIOUS for long hiring processes. If you apply, I'd love to hear how it goes... this is a long term goal of mine.

Just applied. Don't meet the minimum TT, but what the heck. I have all that other stuff they want on the app like formation flying, low level, NVGs, insertions and all that hooah stuff. So, you never know!

Thanks for the post!

No problem! I wish you the best. I know the G is very strict on hour requirements thanks to OPM (1500 has always been the magic number for 2181 positions), but who knows!!

That's my biggest frustration with government jobs... I was up for an 1811 (Criminal Investigator/Special Agent) position last year, and had to be technically DQ'd because I qualified for a higher pay grade but my entry program (outstanding scholar) was only for GS-7 positions. I was even willing to enter under the lower grade, but "once the announcement is written we can't change it." Argh! Oh well, I love my current job (121) and can see myself here!

Any idea where these guys are based? How often do they move around?

There's a listing on one of the tabs of over 20 possible bases - mostly in the SW. On the app you can click on what bases you prefer.

From a law enforcement board:

Seems to be some concern over what these folks actually do...

I had heard that border patrol pilots had to work on the ground as ground agents for a year or two before they could be pilots. I don't know if they have changed this rule or not, but I applied.

Your right, it's worth a shot!

PC-12s, C210s, and Citations. P-3 Orions from Legacy Customs (where all BPs assets came from) are not under control of the BP Chiefs...

I heard that average Joe from the civilian world would probably NEVER get a chance to fly one of their P-3's. I got to see the inside of one of them last year when Hurricane Rita was headed in. They repositioned it to El Paso and after the hurricane they were going to fly over where it hit and send live video to the White House. It was real cool, got to meet the pilots and crew... I wish I remembered their names to call them up for a reference!

That sucks. I'd love to fly the P-3. I wonder what the Navy is going to do with them all when they get retired here soon. Davis Montham has a TON of P-3's, great airplane.

Vacancy is closed, sorry!

CD - sorry to hear, but that's to be expected. That unit got TORCHED on that other forum though... sounds like you're not missin' out (since they moved to CBP vs. the old Customs).

I got an email saying I am eligable, and will be until March 2007. It also said that I would "ONLY receive additional notification if I was selected by a review board" or something like that.

It was pretty cool getting an email from 1300 Pennsylvania Ave anyway!
