The Instructor Pilot is responsible for providing pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight course instruction and evaluation for pilots on the AW product line. Responsibilities: Organize and prepare training outlines and related material for structured and special training. Consult with AgustaWestland Technical and Flight departments personnel to keep abreast of the latest product variants’: technical systems; configurations; performance characteristics, normal and emergency procedures; limitations; and safety of flight requirements. Conduct approved Pilot Transition courses for qualified (military or FAA) helicopter pilots that will include ground operation and flight operation in day, night (unaided and NVG), and VFR/IFR environments. Provide pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight instruction that will enable the qualified helicopter pilot to transition to the AW helicopter with comprehensive knowledge of: applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs); the aircraft systems, components and performance; flight characteristics; normal and emergency procedures; aircraft limitations; and the proper use of the Honeywell Primus Epic System to plan and conduct IFR navigation using VOR, ADF and ILS systems, and the use of IFR charts and instrument approach plates embedded in the system. Conduct stage and final flight evaluations as required per the approved Course outline Regularly schedule each assigned student to ensure satisfactory progress through the Course, and immediately inform supervisor of any delays in training or satisfactory progress Timely course completion of all flight students assigned, including completion of required paperwork and assignment of final course grade. Accurately maintain all appropriate customer and AgustaWestland records to include student training files, student and course logbooks, and computer records. Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate, and incorporate new curriculum and courseware as assigned. Ensure students understand and practice all aspects of the Course aviation safety program File incident reports as necessary to report any observed safety violations, or situations that may affect safety of flight. Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings as assigned. Undertake out-of-plant assignments, both domestic and foreign. Conduct Maintenance Operational Checks (MOC) and Maintenance Test Flights (MTF) as necessary. Comply with Flight Training Uniform dress code. Position Requirements: Baccalaureate FAA Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII) license Hold current FAA Class I or Class II Medical Certificate Excellent English oral and written communications and interpersonal skills Minimum 1,000 hours turbine-engine helicopter total flight time Minimum 250 hours total military and/or FAA instructor pilot flight time Minimum 50 hours NVG-aided flight time Computer literate and experience with PowerPoint presentations Desired Skills: Minimum 2,000 hours turbine-engine helicopter total flight time Minimum 500 hours multi-engine helicopter total flight time Minimum 500 hours total military and/or FAA instructor pilot flight time Minimum 50 hours actual instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) flight time Work Conditions: Additional working hours/overtime as required Security Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must be able to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified material.
