I would hit the ATP Gleim pretty hard for the week leading up to the interview. I can't believe they charge you $50 to do the interview though. I have never heard of any other job interview where they expect the interviewee to pay to be interviewed. Perhaps if you give them $100 they will give you the answers to the 50 question test? Good luck on your interview though! |

The call came in on Monday (June 12) date June 21. This is my first Part 121 Airline interview! Hope the ASA ATP prep book will do alright as thats the one I bought few days ago. I was granted an interview via internal connection. Total time = 1220 and MEL=120 I am nervous, scared and happy. The ATP (Company style exam) I hear has 50 questions no figures. Min. score of 80 % to move onward. Feel free to contact me jet.pilot@verizon.net Night |

Off the top of my head, FedEx does the same thing: We are very pleased that you have expressed an interest in a pilot position with FedEx Express. This profile form will be your initial step in the process of being considered for a pilot position. You must complete this form in its entirety. We will then evaluate your profile, and, if you are selected as a candidate for interview, more information will be sent to you, including an application for your signature. An initial $50.00 fee will be required to process this profile. You will be prompted to submit this payment via credit card (American Express, MasterCard, Visa) after entering data in the profile. https://www.pilotcredentials.com/car....php?a=profile

Have you looked at www.aviationinterviews.com? I think the test is there. With your times I would think you could get picked up by a company that treats their employees better. I have friends there who can't wait to get out. Not trying to bash Mesa, just my friends were excited and took the first job they were offered and now they're unhappy. |

Mesa was not the first to do that, although they may have been the first regional. In the 90's, USAir charged $75, AA charged $100, United charges $50(application) + $50(interview). Delta made you join UPAS.

tag? You even quoted it, yo.P.S. If mesa takes a pay cut in their new contract, I will quit aviation for good. I just can't compete with that stuff.

However From what I understand from reading various internet forums and knowing someone who did MAPD and is waiting for groundschool, it seems like the Mesa pilots are in agreement with you too. As I understand it, the current contract was only accepted so that something with Freedom Air could happen, like keeping on seniority list or something. I'll have to ask again exactly what that was about, but the gist of it is, their current contract was settled for and the consensus is that the next one in 2007 needs to be much better.

I can't believe they make you fly space available to the interview. What a load of $%#. I'll add it to the reasons I would never work there. It's flat not worth it. Perhaps I'm just misguided since I work for a company that treats its employees with respect.

AFAIK, XJET doesn't pay (except per diem) while in training, so there are upsides and downsides there as well. I wouldn't make your decision on a regional based upon if they PS you to the interview or not...

If you get offered the job, head over to www.mesahub.com and start looking for roommates for training. Also send me a PM over there and I'll get some hotels #s to you. The interview: no sim, 50 questions from the ATP (piece of cake, it's not anything major), pilot interview, and possibly an HR interview. Right now ... OK, for the entire 6 1/2 years I've been here, we're short on pilots, so the job is yours to lose. If you do get the job, keep the following in mind: (1) You have no say as to what airplane you get, no matter what they tell you. (2) Groundschool in ICT is the Beech. PHX is everything else. (3) If you get the CRJ, hope you like, and can afford, living near IAD. That's where you're going. ERJ: same gig. Dash: no-one knows anymore. Beech: you'll move every other month. (4) We start contract negotiations next year. Management has already started ramping up the abuse (it's bad enough during normal times) with scheduling, junior assignments, and crap like that. Apparently they don't realize that they are pissing off an already pissed-off pilot group. This will get ugly, and I can't wait. ![]() (5) The contract sucks, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. There are a variety of reasons we signed it, none of which really matter right now. We have a new batch of gents running our union, we're getting results, and we're ready to get what we freaking deserve. Hopefully the rest of the industry will stand by us and support us (we got nothing last time). |

Could someone point me to a thread or website that explains why everyone hates mesa so much. I know the pilots don't get paid well, but it's not any worse than most of the regionals. Is there something in their past with the pilot group being scabs or something?
