Default Emirates Recruiting in Miami

Emirates representatives will be at the AeroService job fair in Miami.

http://www.aeroservice.com/press.asp

Looks like Cathay and SWA will be there as well so that makes it worthwhile for job seekers wanting a good spectrum of employers to talk to.

Default Emirates

Typhoon,

Been watching for a little while and finally joined!

On the job fair - what are Emirates reasons for attending? Are they just collecting resumes for the Hold file or are they really ready to offer class dates?

I am 2/3 through getting all my info on the Emirates Group website. The fact that they will be there would make it totally worth my time to go down there. What do you think?

All the best,

Al.

A little of both. They are trying to get people interested in Emirates. They are hiring about 30 pilots per month for the next few years so the hold pool isn't going to be as long as it has been in the past. They need people now and the traditional hunting grounds of Europe and Australia/New Zealand have started to try up. They are very actively targeting the USA as a major source of pilots for the next few years.

The Miami show is being attended by two current EK pilots. No interviews are taking place. It is an informational presentation. Since this is a free job fair it is certainly worth it to go take a look. If you are coming from further north then it may pay to wait until the Air Inc. job fair in Atlanta May 20th. That one has a fee ( doesn't Kit always charge ? ) but if it means a day trip versus an overnight trip your travel costs could be less.

The Air Inc fair in Atlanta will have one pilot and probably an HR rep as well. Not sure about that, I'll ask this week.

The important thing to note is that EK has started to look at current regional airline pilots now. So the old rule of being current on something in the B737 or Airbus category and higher is going away.

Default What are my chances!?

I'm a 5000hr corporate pilot. Experience includes ops in 53 countries (North & South America, Europe, little Africa & Asia). Since I'm a corporate guy I don't have the Challenger type for example, but have KA350 and LJ45 types.

Also: 600hrs FO B727 (I was dual qualified as a FE too); 1000 jet; 2000 turboprop; chief pilot/management experience.

Emirates would be the pinnacle of my career and would plan to retire with them. I enjoy the challenge of international ops and think that I would be a good fit, BUT would Emirates consider a guy with this kind of experience?

Any info would, as always be appreciated.

Cheers,

Al.

I'm a regional turboprop guy with 3500TT and less than 1000 PIC turbine and I got a positive response when I went to the fair in LAX a few weeks ago. So although typhoon can better answer this question, I would guess that you would be a great candidate for the job.

Was the LAX fair one like Typhoon described - more of an informal affair, rather than the possibility of hiring?

Omar, did they say anything about requiring jet PIC time? Or is EMB PIC something they're interested in?

I'll answer that. They require 2000 multi-crew jet. It does not need to be PIC, in fact they hire many guys who have never been captains before. Jet does not mean turboprop, but they may make exception for heavy turboprop, aka P-3, C-130. As always this is subject to change, but as long as they get guys with the 2000 jet they won't lower that requirement.

Thumbs up

Just been informed via email that I've been placed in the Hold Pool.

Typhoon - any insider knowledge on the typical wait time for all us swimmin' around in the pool?
