SLU (St. Louis University)is usually hiring instructors. Their pay is abso#####ingloutely ridiculous (charge the students $100k for school alone and pay the instructors $9/hr) but it's a job.

Yeah I applied there and they are taking their time with interviews and everything. I called HR a few times over the last few months and they still havent started looking at interviews. Yeah the pay is horrible. I plan to have at least 2 jobs.

Might want to try over at Langa Air - located at KALN, St. Louis Regional ... it's in Bethalto. Just cross the river on 44 to I-55/70 to the 255 north to 143 (leftturn) then to your first right past the old K-mart to Route 140 North (right turn by the BlockBuster) you'll pass under the 255 again and the airport will be on your right. It's been a year or so since I've been back to the 255 might run all the way up to the airport now, just dont know.

you might try to get a job slinging bags at chautauqua. the pay isn't great, i'm sure, but it's money in the bank, and, with some luck, you'll get some connections out of it. some people who work the ramp might surprise you - a couple people who sling bags with me have ATPs, A&P certs, and are professional CFIs. the chief pilot for skywest also works in denver, and it never hurts to know the chief pilot if you want to get hired somewhere down the road. flight benefits are a nice perk, obviously. if you can handle busting your butt for $10/hr and 50-55 hours a week, it's a good opportunity to show the company what you're about. i've met a few RJ and embraer pilots here who worked the ramp while instructing before they got hired. just food for thought. it's better than working at home depot if you need a full-time job.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah I applied at Chautauqua. Ive only been here a week and a half so I dont expect anything to happen right away. I also applied at American Eagle, American, Delta, Trans States, Home Depot, UPS, FedEx, and a few other places. I checked all the surrounding airports. There are a few promising jobs out there that are just about ready to hire more. There is one place that I called that had an instructor that unfortunately had a heart attack so they will be giving me a call. I also applied for a traffic watch job flying [RA] 172s [/RA]. If I had about 300 more hours, I would have already had a job. Where the hell have you been? |

Just want to give a report back. I just got hired as a ramp working for Trans States down here. In addition, there is another outfit at Creve Couer (1h0) that I could be instructing for (pending insurance). I checked out Langa Air at St Louis Regional (KALN) and they want to hire me but cannot because of the lack of students. They had a deal with the Air Force (Scott AFB) for them to train 15 cadets. For some reason it didnt work out. They said to expect a call from them in the fall.

You might also try Skyline Aeronautics at Spirit. They're a pretty good sized flight training outfit and operate good airplanes (some with G1000). Chris |

Thanks for suggesting Skyline. I checked them out about 3 weeks ago and they seemed like a good outfit. I gave them my resume and they gave me the we'll put it on file talk. Are you in the St Louis area?

I grew up in St. Louis. Went to college near Kansas City and now I fly charter here in KC. You might also try St. Charles Flying Service at St. Charles Muni Apt. They have a pretty decent sized flight school. Chris |
