Default Mosquito Control

I had another pilot who is trying to build time ask me today if a knew the name of some companys in Florida who go around spraying for mosquitos. They do it in a multi. I knew a guy who did it but I lost touch. He was flying an Aztec spraying for mosquitos.

Does anyone have a name of a company or company's that do this. I do not think this is considered crop dusting. The person I know was flying all over the place spraying. It was not over crops.

I don't know if it considered crop dusting, but it's the exact same type of flying -- low (very) level application of insecticide spray, just over bodies of water instead of fields.

Most of it that I know of are run by county/local governments. I have a friend, for example, that works for Collier Mosquito Control District. As far as private companies, I'm not sure.

Thats good info. I was under the assumption that these were private companies that provided the service to the county's.

In the Twin Cities, the Metropolitian Mosquito Control District uses a contractor (a helicopter services out of Leseur, MN). I would guess that most counties would use contractors, rather than own their own fleets. If he's really interested, his best bet is probably to just start calling mosquito control districts and ask the question.

Call the local agriculture commissioners office or mosquito abaitment and vector control office. It is considered ag flying i think because you are still applying chemicals to the soil or water. I will ask my former boss who flys for this type of company.

Collier Mosquito Control is a governmental organization with it's own fleet of Shorts & helicopters. Lee County runs it's own fleet of helo's & DC-3's. Monroe County has helo's & Islanders, I believe. Jacksonville uses Skymasters. Most of the big counties utilize there own fleets.

Those are baby mosquitos for Florida, especially in Clermont. It IS Lake County ya know, and mosquitos breed in lakes.
