Thought I would post this in case anyone is interested in working for my alma mater. I'd be happy to give more details on the community, etc. I spent a year there working for the University after graduating...great benefits package (as do most universities). Warrensburg is about 45 miles southeast of Kansas City and is 10 miles west of Whiteman AFB (home of the B-2....nothing like spotting a B-2 at your 12 o'clock in a C150). Central Missouri State University Staff Positions Available CMSU is an AA/EEO/ADA Employer Aviation Chief Flight Instructor (CJS-16) Working Hours: Professional Hours Announcement Number: 061210 Date Posted: 10/12/2004 Application Deadline: Priority by 01/17/2005 FLSA Status: Exempt FTE: Full-time Pay Rate: $3692.08/Monthly Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Aviation, education, safety or management. Master's degree in Aviation, education, safety, or management preferred. - All FAA flight certificates through all flight instructor certificates. Airline Transport Pilot Certificate is preferred. - Three (3) years experience as a flight instructor with a minimum of 2000 hours. - Three (3) years experience as a Pilot-in-Command in a FAR Part 135, 121, or 127 operation. - One year experience in Airport Administration and personnel management. - Five hundred (500) hours of turbine aircraft experience. Turbojet and Turboprop experience preferred. - FAA Pilot Certificates (Flight Instructor, Instrument Flight Instructor, Multi-engine Flight Instructor, Glider Flight Instructor). - Second Class Medical Certificate. - Keyboarding ability. No keyboarding test required. - Attention to detail. - Budget-related skills. - Knowledge of a University environment preferred. - Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal. - Computer software skills to include word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and desktop publishing. - Human Relations/Interpersonal skills. - Leadership skills, including organization, meeting facilitation, and/or project leadership. - Physical abilities, including mobility, agility, strength, dexterity, balance, coordination, and/or endurance. - Supervisory skills, including motivation, delegation of duties, evaluation, etc. - Management and/or administration skills. - Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines. - Maintain confidentiality. - Instructional skills to build and deliver college level courses. - Police background check and criminal history check. - Must pass federal drug testing before employment. Special Working Conditions: - Subject to random drug testing. - Driver license. - Exposure to heights and loud noises. - Other hazards associated with flight. - On call/standby work required. Travel required. - Work in stressful conditions and professional appearance required. Functions: This person is the executive in charge of flight operations supporting the mission of the Department of Aviation at Central Missouri State University. This includes acting as Chief Flight Instructor of the department's flight training school, Director of Operations and Chief Pilot for the university's FAR Part 135 Air Taxi service, and management of the University's airport. My favorite though was the special working condition: "exposure to heights and loud noises." You think?? |
