| They're not new, but their equipment is. I worked there as a CFI and it's a class act everyway you look at them. The new owner is down-to-earth businessman that knows what he's doing and keeps his eye on the ball, without ever compromising safety for money (seriously). Squeaky clean is the best way to describe their operation. Pay is below average for CFI's, but they've got a LOT of overhead. New 182's with glass and DA-40's with glass, as well as several SR22's, one owned by a major airline COO. Put it this way - I gladly drove an extra 30 minutes each way to work there verses driving 5 minutes down the street to work at Avion (not that I ever tried to work there). If I was still in FL I'd still be there. Keep in mind Air Orlando Sales, Air Orlando Charter, and Air Orlando Aviation (the airplane and helicopter school) are all owned and operated independenty. They used to be one big company but were split up years ago. ~wheelsup |

Remember that the sales company is completely separate from the flight school - NO RELATION. Same thing with Charter and Maintenance: Structure: Air Orlando Acquisitions, Inc: Flight School (fixed and rotor) and Pilot Shop Air Orlando Charter, Inc: Charter Air Orlando, Inc: Sales and Maintenance. btw, the Flight School has it's own maintenance department and does not use Air Orlando, Inc. | Old Skool | Thanks Brian, like I need more competition for a CFI job. ![]() Ditto what wheelsup said. The equipment is almost all brand new (since the old stuff was wiped out by a hurricane), and they just got their ME back on-line. As far as I know, they're still looking for a tailwheel replacement for the Citabria. They do a LOT of work with Cirrus and Cirrus owners as well. |

| I am a flight instructor at Air Orlando. We have about twenty five instructors, twenty some airplanes, and we are very busy. The management, the work environment, and the overall attitude is excellent. The pay is $12 / hr. Most of our planes are less than 4 years old, very well equipped and very well maintained. We currently have six glass panel airplanes, including one Diamond Star (DA-40), and two Cessna 182's, with several more in the future plans. We have a Citabria on line, with one dedicated instructor for tail wheel and basic aerobatic instruction. We recently added a Piper Seneca to the fleet, and we will soon have a very nice, completely refurbished Beechcraft Dutchess. We are a part 61 school at this time, and we are working on getting part 141 certification at some point. For more info, see www.flyairorlando.com |

How's the Twin Star coming, or is that on the back burner? Glad to see another Citabria back up and running, too. |

| We got the Diamond Star in a couple of months ago. It's a great airplane. Diamond is still working on the American certification for the Twin Star, they tell us we should have one by the end of this year. We have the same Citabria on line, with one new wing complements of Hurricane Charley. |

| I worked at Air Orlando for a year and it is a class act all the way around. I got some excellent flight time and would not have traded the experience for the world. The owner and staff are awesome! I made some wonderful friendships there and the atmosphere, pilot shop and airplanes are second to none. In all my aviation travels, I yet to see a better maintained facility or airplanes that even come close to the quality of Air Orlando's. Go get the job. It's worth it! |
