Do employers use Flight Aware to verify flights in your logbook?

| Who would have that kind of time?

Some VFR flights do show up if you are getting flight following. I cant imagine how useful using it would be, but I suppose a blatant wrongful entry could be caught.

| Not really since I have waited 30 mins to depart before and all that taxi time is part of the block to block time.

I was thinking more along the lines of logging flights to different places or total falsification of entries. Not just an extra few tenths.

It's an interesting question. I'm thinking that if one's logbook is legit it really doesn't much matter either way though, does it?

| I just wasn't sure where to post it. No catch. Ive only applied for one job and I've been at it for over a year. I'm not sure how the hiring process really goes. A new super (that knows nothing about aviation) was hired at my place of employment and brought up the subject, so I figured Id post the question.

No, no and no. Most 121 recruiting ops assume that a very small percentage of everyones flight time is in error or BS.

| Super Moderator | If your flights are VFR it really would nto matter. Flightaware only tracks IFR Fights for the most part.

No, at least I wouldn't think so. That would take entirely way too much time.Having said that, you should still keep your logbook straight.

Prison time and up to $250,000 in fines if you get caught. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

| Quote: I can understand your reaction toward the "BS" part of that comment, but so far as errors in the logbooks, I have read in numerous places about questions in interviews about if the applicant thinks his/her logbook is 100% correct. Apparently the gist of the ensuing conversation at the interview is that most peoples' logbooks have some error, somewhere....that a 100% correct logbook, especially at the time/experience level that people are applying for Part 121 flying, is unrealistic. There is usually something missed somewhere. Again, I think you are correct that 121 agencies don't assume that their applicants have falsified time in their books...but I think they DO assume that there will be little errors here and there.

Flightaware would be useless unless you're loogbook shows something like 60hrs of ME time in the past week. Flightaware only goes back 3 or 4 days I think.

How would it ever be possible to prove that, though?

The thing is all it takes is a call or message to them and you can have your tail number 'disappear' if you will. Many of the Fortune 500 companies or any company a/c will be 'unavailable' at the request of the owner.

| Agent Smith | I doubt it. If there's a question at all if you've got "Parker P-51 Time", they're not going to spend an inordinate amount of time to research it, they're not going to offer you a job. Also, on the topic, most HR reps that deal with pilots are on a first name basis too!

| Why is that? I know it's true and all, but what does it really matter?

| A million reasons, but most of them come down to not wanting others to be "all up in their business".
