Alaska Central Express cargo out of Anchorage, Alaska. F/O in the 1900, upgrade time is looking like 1-1/2 years. Interview was straightforward, I mostly listened while I got the info about benefits, schedule etc. etc. Only have a few HR questions. Ground school starts July 7, I gotta drive from Jax, fl to Anchorage. Better start packing soon ![]() PM me for more details. Last edited by rdsoxpilot; June 9th, 2008 at 23:20. Reason: ...i forgot |

How long are you planning for that drive? 10 days?

That, by far, is the longest drive I've heard proposed. Is gas being reimbursed? That's a lot of gas money....

I'm going to plan for 2 weeks if I actually do the drive. And no gas is not being reimbursed, which is sort of the problem. Might be easier to sell all my stuff and fly up there and restart essentially.

Hey depending on what kind of car you already own have you thought about selling it and getting a new one in anchorage. I used to live there and vehicles are not that expensive up there I got a 2002 toyota avalon for about 7500 or 8500 (cant remember) with low miles and this was back in 2004. Just something to think about anyways a BIG CONGRATS.

Congrats, Glad to hear success swimming up stream right now. The drive itself could be very cool, as well as expensive. Is it a rear wheel drive? I wouldnt take a Ford mustang to a winter wonderland. It would be worthless 8-9 months a year. |

Wow congrats! It sounds like the flying will be pretty awesome. I just google map'd the drive, "4,692 mi – about 3 days 7 hours." But talk about an awesome road trip. If you can swing the drive, I would do it.

Doesn't look like the drive will happen. Restarting in AK would be probably just as expensive because I don't get paid for training, and hotels are at my expense too. This is really bumming me out because it's the only place that's called me back, and isn't a teaching job. |
